This is what I wrote while I was in the hospital.
Red Face, head buzzing, eyes dialated, unable to sleep. Don't like socializing with these people because strange or want cigarettes or money or gum or whatever. Afraid to offend or piss anyone off. Feeling unsafe. Tried to tell the staff I wasn't feeling well. Problems in the cafeteria.
Voluntary patient admitted for cutting. In the past two years have only cut three times. Depressed but not suicidal not a threat to myself or others. Er doctor said I should only have to stay a couple of days to get medication and therapy. There is no therapy here. Most of the employees are rude and act like they are being put out if you ask them for anything or say yes we will take care of that for you and not take care of it. Tuesday in the cafeteria one of the cafeteria workers openly argued with the staff person who took us down to the cafeteria and almost got into a physical fight.
Monday started Effexor at 75mlg and then the next day was doubled to 150mlg. Advised the staff that the medication needed to be taken with food or I would be sick to my stomache all day and they said ok but when meds came everyday they gave me a hard time and were not prepared. Wednesday I started feeling off and my eyes were dialated and I was very hot and my head was buzzing and I was very uncomfortable. I tried to tell the nurse and several members of the staff and everyone was too busy to pay any attention to me.
The next morning my eyes were still dialated and I told the nurse and he said he would put a note in my file and I didn't get to see the doctor until 6pm that day. The doctor said that this was not normal for effexor and I had been on effexor before and I did not react this way to the medication. I advised the doctor that it was probably because they did not go gradually on the meds and he said that someone my age should be able to handle it and I freaked out because I said I don't know what's doing this to me then maybe someone slipped me something? The next day the doctor came back and said it turned out this was a side affect he had to look it up!!
The place was very unsanitary there were spiders, mice, fruit flies and dirt all over the floors. Musty bathrooms that were mildewy and smelly. The staff did not talk appropiately in front of the patients and I was cursed in front of and heard the staff curse at other patients. All of the groups were low functioning we made bracelets and went to the gym and found hidden pictures from a highlight magazine!
