Finland

This monday was a bank holiday, so I took thurs and fri off for a 5-day trip to visit a friend of mine in Finland. It was really good fun, and I must confess I am now a big fan of the Finnish Sauna! I shall definately have to consider having one added to my house when I get around to having one built in a hundred years' time or something :-) In the meanwhile, maybe I'll frequent one of the German ones. Though in all honesty, I probably wont.

I was staying in Hervanta where Timo lives, a fairly small town outside Tampere, which I think is the 2nd largest city of Finland. It was only 20 mins by bus into Tampere, so we spent a lot of time in both places and it's a really nice place to visit. I think there may be a food shortage in both places for a while though, as Carol and I ate a LOT whilst we were there. And with dishes like wild boar and reindeer to choose from, who wouldn't?

The only downer (we were even lucky with the weather which was great) was that because of my impacted wisdom teeth (did I mention those?) I was on strong antibiotics until the Sunday, so I couldn't drink. Until the Sunday evening... and so we had to make the most of it!

Pics are online in the usual place.
