Putting the boot in on Micro$oft

Microsoft have failed another of their attempts to "circumvent and undermine the law of the European Community". Hussah. I must confess I don't usually have a lot of faith in the US courts, but I was happy to hear that a judge quashed the firm's demands that rival Novell hand over documents it presented to the European Commission for use in an anti-trust case - specifically the European ruling that MS has to provide rivals with the information needed to make their software work with Microsoft servers.

It's a perfectly reasonable demand in my most humble of opinions, I'm sure Mr Gates wouldn't be very happy if chip manufacturers were to write their own OS and refuse to tell MS how to get windows running on their new super-fast processors. Hmm... now there's an idea!

So far, MS have been defeated in attempts against Oracle, Sun and Novell. A suit against IBM is still in the works, so let's hope New York follows the lead of California and Boston and tells them to take a hike.
