Conventions, Games and Websites!

Oh, hello there.
Yeah, I did actually decide to come back and you know, write stuff. Sorry I haven't been around guys, it's been a pretty flat week for me all round, really. Bleh bleh bleh. So glad it's over! So let's see. Last time I posted, I had just been to a convention, hadn't I? I should probably say something about that...

SMASH 2011
Just wonderful, really. Smaller than Supanova, but ultimately a superior event, I think! I spent a ton more money here than at Supa, and still had to leave behind stuff or else I'd be broke.

There were a few more things...but they weren't for me ^-^; this is ma stuff. THAT CRABBIE. His little claws guys, I can't stop playing with them! He's such a cutie, I had been eyeing him off on the internets fora bit, but so glad I have him now. Just brilliant.

The artist's circle is just really, really great, and pretty much where I spent most of my money. Postcards were the soup de jour for me, since cheap + larger than bookmarks. It was also where I met teh lovely Mammath, who is a cool lady. And made cool stickers. STICKAHS! The big ol' artbook...actually didn't come from the artist's circle (which is a bit strange I think but whatever) but is by a popular chinese artist. I have followed a lot of their work on DA but, well...they're one of those artists. You know, the ones who really, really like guys. Together. I picked up the book which I though had the best spread of images; but I when I found out they came with free posters my thought was "I'll probably end up with the gayest one of all". My suspicions were of course confirmed when I opened it. HELLO GAY BONDAGE POSTER. At least there are not "bits" visible.

I have nothing against yaoi, I just didn't really want a stonking great big poster of it is all, ya'know? Anyway, it just stays folded up in the book so no harm really.

We met a group of lovely lady artists there, one of whom WAS A RARITY GIJINKA. You know it's awesome. Anyway, gosh they had  some nice art! Girly, but nice. Like so --

Which reminds me,  I still need to pick up those handmade Tetris magnets!

Oh yea, my brother (my chaperone for the day) and I went to chinatown for yum cha, naturally. And naturally, I had to stop in the cute stationery stores. Look at this --

PIXEL STICKERS. Best ever.

So all in all, a good day! I am psyched for next year, and very seriously considering having a table in the artist's circle, too! I have all sorts of ideas. Notebooks and stickers and...mainly video game stuff ^^; But original stuff too. Better not get ahead of myself, though. I've got a whole year, yet.

But yea, the week has been.....meh. Hectic, since my mum went in for day surgery and me seeing supervisor and blah blah. Also think I'm starting to feel down because it's the first time I've never really known where I'm headed next. I thought I had some ideas, but now...not really. I still need to wait for my marks and diploma anyway, so I'm stuck waiting around.  So I bought myself a little something to cheer myself up...

Batman: Arkham Asylum
Best $10 I ever spent.

No really.
Okay, the writing isn't going to win any awards, but who cares?! You get to be BATMAN. And it is everything you expect it to be. The premise is good, and you can see that it isn't just made to cash in on the new wave of Batman films - it sticks closer to the comic continuity, for one (although I've never read it, I am familiar with it). And it even manages to be clever in spots. The combat system is fun, and you don't really need to be proficient in fighting games to get satisfaction out of it. And sneaking about, picking off guards one by one, hanging them upside down = funtimes.
I am impressed. I am in love.

The ending is....well, meh. But comic book continuity meets video game, means some kind of ridiculous super-powered showdown. I still came away quite satisfied nevertheless.
I also love Harley. And Joker. They are really fun villains. Scary, but fun. Poor Harley still got a terrible outfit, though. It's no better than the reboot look. The Arkham City design is better, if only because she has pants.

Speaking of, Arkham City! Sequel! Very much looking forward to. I--I'm not sure I like Catwoman. I mean, her design is nice, but I'm so thoroughly fed up with those "femme fatal", sexy, violent women. You know, the ones who wear skintight clothes, high heels and blow kisses or whatever to their adversaries. I know that's who she is and she was like  that before it was everywhere, but eh. If she is fun to play (as you do play her) then I  will get past it, I guess.

I also insist on gliding everywhere. Really, really, really. Wheeeeeeeeee! (I don't think Batman would say "whee" but whatever).

Pokemon Time - A Fansite

Halfway there, people!
So happy with it so far. It's pretty minimalist, but so is PT, so I'm aiming to match that.  I am particularly proud of the character gallery, and also the little pokemons scattered around the site.

I now only need to take photos of my items and put them up. Problem is it's been raining pretty heavily the past week, so no go on photos (as you can see, they are all dark and blurry!) I'm not 100% certain how to go about some of it; do I put scans up of the notebooks? Like the cover and the inside, or just the cover? Or should I just take a photo of them all together?
And clearfiles. I..could take a photo of the ones I have as an example,  then use Mamath's scans of the rest (if you don't mind, sweetie)? I am aiming for more "fansite" than collection site, so....hmm. I'll figure out something, although suggestions are welcome.

I'm thinking maybe just updating weekly, you guys. It seems to be much easier.  Means long posts though, but you know.
