I'm trying to space out my entries a bit as not to flood. Should I wait for someone else to post first?

Title: Nothing or To Fly Back Home
Characters: Domino, Giovanni
POV: Domino
Notes: She has everything a girl could possibly want. She must be so happy. Don't we all envy her?

He treated her so warmly when they did meet! With an ache in her heart she recalled his baritone voice and the fine lines folded around his eyes and mouth, his unshakeable charisma and the musky-fresh smell of his cologne. When she was out in the open with the strict tension of an escape cable under her fingers, the thought of just a brief glimpse of his congratulations was enough to send her flying back to the base with her spoils in tow. One brief note of “good job” was enough to send her to sleep smiling for months.

She kept all his notes and cards carefully filed in her room. The flowers he sent on her first large-scale success were still the centerpieces of her room, the dried tulips carefully enameled in polish to preserve them. She obsessively scanned the printed world for photos of him, which she shyly tucked away tucked away into her special drawer.

Everyday she devised various plans to say hello to him, to just catch a glimpse of his face. Every night she hugged a pillow and pretended it was he. She dreamed, and dreamed longingly, to be held and the promise of a goodnight kiss. She rose at six everyday and raced down the empty corridors, when the sky outside the frosty windows was gray as dust, all in order to see him at his desk, yards away from the open door.

Then there was the realm of questions. Would she give the entire rest of her life for one day with him? Would she be shot naked into the vacuum of space if he were waiting on the moon? Would she dedicate every moment forever to hard work if she could just touch his hand? Yes! Yes! Yes! Every one of her cells, every second of her life, every movement of her muscles, all was centered on pleasing him, if only to see him smile at her! Once he smiled at her through a corridor- or was that just a dream?

Yet she saw him only when she did something spectacular, when she defeated even herself on the records and on the fields. She was a lark, everyone said, she is a lark, the rules of physics and luck and possibility do not apply to her- no matter what, she always flies home. She has everything a girl could want. She must be so happy and so free. Don’t we envy her?
