Went down to the midway yesterday afternoon with Kelsey and Lisa. The amount of rides get suckier and suckier each year. A shame, really. At least the carnies this year weren't that scary. Back in the old days they used to have all their teeth intact and weren't creepy. Now they're all dirty, wear sunglasses, and have hooks for hands. Or something to that effect.
After skipping to the Republican kiosk and grabbing a handful of stickers, which I think I left in Lisa's car sadly, Kelsey and Lisa wanted to get their face painted. So I was all sure, go ahead and sat down with them in the tent. "Do you know what this color reminds me of..?" Says the dude painting Kelsey's face in a dreamy-like tone as he holds up the paint pencil. "It reminds me of the love of God." Lisa and I look pointedly at each other and I tilt my head to look at the banner in the back.
Children's Evangelism Fellowship.
Here sits Lisa, the Atheist, and me, the Hindu.
So apparently yellow reminded him of God's love, black reminded him of our sin, and green reminded him of something about Jesus, I forget. Kelsey just kept glancing back at me and trying not to grin humorously. He kept shooting down her spin on Christianity and kept saying that Evolution-believers just didn't see the light. I was tempted to get in his face and wave my Satanic Harry Potter wand around. And chant Hindu prayers or something.
That was my funny story of the day yesterday.
A snowcone and a few rides later, I got dropped off and Kelsey and Lisa went off to the Switchfoot concert, which I heard was pretty good from Markee. I just hope we get an actually cool band that I listen to next year. The closest all my favorite bands come is Minnesota...and on school days, too.
Watched Dead Poet's Society last night, really good movie. I rented Ella Enchanted too. And thanks to Cat, I can't look at Antonio Banderas's face the same way ever again. I about shrieked when I saw a poster of him.
Yoinked this from Amy's journal. It describes me perfectly.
