American Idol Top 36: Group One Review
Well from the auditions and Hollywood weeks we saw, this looked to be a promising season but after last night's performances, it really has me rethinking that. I had picked a Top 12 originally [prior to Joanna Pacitti's disqualification from the competition] and the majority of them that were in the first group of hopefuls last night, crashed and burned. JACKIE TOHN
I was majorly disappointed in her. She was supposed to be good because she was before but she had to do this song which I liked but dude you can't mix Elvis with that hip hop funk etc. Her outfit and the catterwalling was atrocious and I don't like it at all. But that's fine because it will only make Alexis look better.
RICKY BRADDY
So damn. I am annoyed because he was supposed to be terrible. He did really well and I like the song choice for him cause it can show off his vocals. I didn't like how he did the high notes at the end because I am not using to hearing it that way. I agree with Simon that he's really missing in the personality/persona area but overall he did pretty well.
ALEXIS GRACE
I still love Alexis. Her vocals are good and I just love her whole appearance and character. She's a mom but she's so funky and awesome. I really really like her a lot. I hope she can either make it for the girls this round or the Wildcard. I am an Alexis Grace fan.
BRENT KEITH
Well I'm kinda disappointed in Brent because he's actually a really good singer but it didn't show through this song. This is a fun bar song not a singer's song. He should have went with something that showed his vocals a lot more. He should have learned this by being on Nashville Star. His dimples are seriously like wow though. Winner for that.
STEVIE WRIGHT
Another major disappointment from the girls. She sang the soulful stuff before and let the judges get to her about sounding old. The lower range wasn't good at all and I can't believe she just shot herself in the foot like that. I am really disappointed and that's all I can say.
ANOOP DESAI
Anoop Dogg. I dunno what to think of this. I mean I'm used to hearing him sing it with his acapella group the Clef Hangers so it was weird. I think he did okay but I'm glad he didn't do any better than he did [even though he's in my top 12] just because I think he's Danny's main competition for tonight. So hopefully he did enough to get the 3rd spot just not the top guy spot.
CASEY CARLSON
I never liked her and never will. She's making Alexis look better. So far everyone but Alexis has let me down, so I'm glad I hated Casey from the beginning. That was terrible.
MICHAEL SARVER
Why did you pick this song? He should have done something less rock and more r&b. I am SOOOOOOOOOO disappointed in Michael. Probably the most disappointing of the night so far for me. The vocal wasn't very good but he did okay the performance. I am really disappointed. I've been using this word a lot.
ANNE MARIE BOSKOVICH
Anne Marie did okay. I really wish she was in a different group so I could root for her. She was way better than most of the other girls [with the exception of Alexis] but still to me she didn't seem good enough. I thought the performance was kind of boring so I agree that she should have done something more upbeat and fun.
STEPHEN FOWLER
He was better than some of the people but I am bitter and have a hate for him because he forgot all his words during his last Hollywood song and still made it even though Jamar Rogers was amazing and got cut. This was such a bust. Tonight pretty much sucks at this point. This just wasn't good. I don't really like Stephen's personality either.
TATIANA DEL TORRO
What a waste of a great voice in such a terribly annoying person. She actually sounded good but I just don't like her as a person. I wish that she was in a different group because then I wouldn't feel bad saying she was good. Still not as good as Alexis but not bad. Unfortunately I think she has a chance at the 3rd spot or Wildcard.
DANNY GOKEY
Well as expected, they saved the best for last. Daniel J. Gokey [aka my future husband] completely stole the show. The judges [with the exception of Simon who deemed it a good performance] were blown away and I was spazzing the whole time. Like shaking and freaking out because it was so emotional and motivational. A Mariah Carey song and it was perfect. I think I am in love hxc. The vocals were spot on and he just is a good showman as well. Loved. It.
