American Idol: Top 24 (Guys)

Feb 19, 2008 23:41

Tonight we got to witness the top 12 guys of American Idol 7 give their debut performances. I decided to comment on them. Yay me!

DAVID HERNANDEZ

Song: Midnight Hour (Wilson Pickett)
I thought overall David gave a pretty good performance considering I haven't been really impressed by him thus far. He gave a good start to the show. It's hard to do a Wilson Pickett song but he did pretty decently. He's not one of my favorites yet but I think he has potential to go far in this contest.

CHIKEZIE EZE

Song: I Love You More Today Than Yesterday (Staircase Spiral)
I was really disappointed in Chikezie tonight. I was looking forward to hearing him. If you have a name like Chikezie Eze, you are expected to bring it and do great things but I didn't see it at all, whatsoever. His suit WAS ugly and he was very rude to Simon. I hate when contestants do that and don't let Simon finish his comments.

DAVID COOK

Song: Happy Together (Turtles)
I was also very very disappointed in David Cook. I loved his audition and his style and I thought it would be totally cool to see him make it far but that was not a good performance. He could have done something so much better. I feel like he's trying to be like Chris Daughtry and he's just not. He needs to come into his own and do something good. Stop trying to stand out and instead try to sound good.

JASON YEAGER

Song: Moon River (N/A)
I was really impressed with Jason tonight. I remember him from when he tried out for MTB. He is really talented and has an amazing tone and quality to his voice. I wish he'd picked a different song but overall I think he was amazing. He kinda reminds me of Phil Stacey from last year with hair of course. I like. Definitely. Amazing teeth by the way.

ROBBIE CARRICO

Song: One Is the Lonliest Number (Three Dog Night)
I liked Robbie's audition and I like him now but he's not the best. He's better than Bucky Covington but that's who he puts me in the mind of. He's kind of dull actually. I don't get the big rocker vibe from him either but I think he has a really nice voice. I actually think he could do well if he steps it up and becomes a little more exciting.

DAVID ARCHULETA

Song: Shop Around (Smokey Robinson)
David Archuleta is my boyfriend. I love this kid more than anything. He's like sunshine dust. Sigh. I thougth I loved Elliott Yamin, but this kid has surpassed anything I've ever felt for a reality tv star, celebrity, or real life beau. He's humble, charming, gorgeous and on top of it... AMAZINGLY TALENTED. Definitely the best out of all 12 guys. He has chops and he can sing ballads and uptempos and he's already proven from his first audition until now that he has what it takes. I will marry him.... next year when he's legal.

DANNY NORRIEGA

Song: Jailhouse Rock (Elvis Presley)
If you know me, you know I love Elvis. Huge fan. Danny Norriega however... NOT A FAN. He makes me so sick. I do not like one thing about him. I don't see the hype over his voice cause I honestly don't think he's that great. There are a lot of singers that sound like him out there and do a better job. He's annoying to top it off. I like flamboyance but he goes over the top and acts like an ass. Simon got it right with his review tonight. Go home Danny, just go home.

LUKE MENARD

Song: I don't know. HA.
I never saw Luke before tonight. I was hoping he'd be good cause he's cute... but I don't care if I ever see him again. He was boring, forgettable, predictable, and pitchy. Not my favorite at all.

COLTON BERRY

Song: Suspiscious Minds (Elvis Presley)
Colton was a lot better than I thought he'd be. I wasn't overly enthused by him but he wasn't too bad. He doesn't look nearly as good as Ellen Degeneres though, sorry to burst his bubble. Don't sing Elvis people! I love Elvis but I wasn't too excited about this. I was just surprised he didn't suck. I don't hate him.

GARRETT HALEY

Song: Breaking Up Is Hard to Do (Neil Sedaka?)
I was hoping Garrett would blow me away because he's an Ohio boy! Go OHIO! But unfortunately he didn't. He wasn't the worst in the world but he'll probably go home because of the lack of airtime and a weak first run. I hope he gets another chance because I think with a better song he could do a lot more.

JASON CASTRO

Song: Daydream (i forget who....)
Jason is my other boyfriend; you know the older one with longer hair that is legal and won't get me arrested? Yup that's him! He's amazing right? You might know him as Cheyenne Kimball's ex... but I know him as this amazingly talented guy with funky hair, beautiful eyes, and a great smile. Saw some vids of him on youtube prior to tonight and he blew me away and he blew me away again tonight. Way to come out and rock it out with a guitar and be your own. He's so shy and humble like David only quieter. Me loves.

MICHAEL JOHNS

Song: Light My Fire (The Doors)
Not a Michael Johns fan. Don't think I ever will be. His voice isn't that great and the fact that everyone seems so wowed by him completely annoys me. Jim would be rolling over in his grave right now from that performance. I think he's way overrated and he hasn't impressed me at all. I don't get it. Am I missing something?

My Top 3: David Archuleta, Jason Castro, Jason Yeager
My Bottom 3: Danny Norriega, Luke Menard, Michael Johns
Who SHOULD Go Home: Danny Norriega and Luke Menard
Who WILL Go Home: Luke Menard and Garrett Haley
