alright!
at this point in time, i love being a chef. im getting really fired up. books by anthony bourdain are getting me very excited. i really want to get into blood-and-guts french cookery. im inclined to stay back into the night at work getting all the prep done, and to spend my spare time getting stocks and demi glaces on the go at home, so i can get into the really tasty stuff. it will probably be a while before i am unleashed on that sort of thing at the oriel, though whenever i say the opposite of something it has a habit of becoming untrue. it is taboo to say at work 'its quiet right now isnt it?' especially if you have a load of prep to do, for those words surely summon a horde of customers.
the teams great. its funny, there are all sorts of grievances in the workplace, which i navigate myself around as is in my nature. but still at the end of the day i find myself really liking a lot of my workmates. behind the scenes of hospitality are a lot of stong characters and hilarious stories. i didnt really expect to escape the death of 9-5 here, in fact i expected it to be worse, but here there is Passion. that makes every bit of difference!
