Who: Camus and Geddoe
When: After Geddoe makes his announcement about Arshtat.
Where: Geddoe's room.
What: Camus hears the announcement about Nanami and goes looking for answers.

Camus had seen the second sun, like everyone had, and while he had kept his ear out, listening and gathering mental clues as to the culprit, he was not privy to the excitement that later happened. It was only when the afternoon suddenly became darker that he realized that the sun was gone, and when he went to find out the reason, heard Geddoe's announcement spread throughout the castle. The news hit him as a poisoned arrow in his gut, mind flying back to that fateful return to Matilda, and Gorudo's dreadful deed. It had to be a ruse, a trick, some explanation....and he had to find out the truth. Unable to find Geddoe anywhere else, he stalked to the other man's room, finding it by asking a passerby in a friendly manner with his gloved fist, and banged on the door.

Geddoe had managed to retire without further incident, expecting to be able to sleep away his exhaustion. Sigurd had temporarily ducked out for any first-aid supplies they didn't keep in the room, meaning he was alone when the door shivered under that forceful knock. Groaning a little, he lifted the arm over his forehead. "Who is it?"

"Someone who wishes to speak with you. Now." Camus realized he was being rude, and tried very hard to keep his tone even, "Please." He failed, in the end, and the added 'please' cost him, voice cracking slightly.

Geddoe's eye widened a little, recognizing the voice. "Camus...? Door's open," he called out, pushing himself up to a seat on the bed to receive a visitor. He was out of his armor and gloves, but still clad in his dark shirt and trousers while waiting for Sigurd to check over his cuts and bruises and patch him up.

Camus wasted no time in opening the door, walking through and closing it a little harder than necessary, before striding over to Geddoe and grabbing him by the shirtfront, lifting him to his feet with surprising strength. "What happened to her?" His honey-colored eyes were darkened, narrowed in anger and grief...although who they were really angry at was unclear, guilt running alongside the rage.

It took a second for Geddoe to regain his footing after being manhandled, his expression darkening. "What are you talking about?" he snarled back, confused by this unexpected action on the part of a noble knight. "What happened to who?"

"Lady Nanami." Camus is undaunted by the gruff mercenary, although a part of him does notice the bruises, the beaten look about the older man, but he stows it for now, holding the other man's singular gaze with his own. "I need to know the truth, about her fate. Tell me."

Geddoe placed a hand on one of those grabbing his collar and pried it off, though some of the anger began to ebb from his eye. "She...chose to draw her weapon and fight rather than run to safety, when it looked like there was going to be trouble," he said heavily. "The Queen...she went berzerk. She was about to obliterate the castle with the Sun Rune. Those of us who were nearby ran to stop it, and hell broke loose."

"The Queen...." Camus nodded, letting Geddoe regain his shirt from his fingers, putting together all the pieces he had heard. He did not know much about this Sun Rune, aside from the show it put on for a few weeks, but it seemed to take a great cost to get rid off. "Lady Nanami....she tried to fight this Queen?" He smiles just a little, the anger leaking out of him like water down a river, sadness flowing in to replace it, and he chuckles softly. "I cannot imagine her doing anything else."

The captain nodded slowly. "Nobody asked her to, she decided to on her own. Maybe she followed Shoon in, I don't know - I didn't stop to look to see who was all fighting until the first blows were struck." He paused to breathe a deep sigh, still finding it difficult to relate the final part of the story. "Nanami...ran to clutch the Queen's dress and pleaded with her. The next thing we knew...the Sun Rune enveloped her, and she...vanished."

Camus listened to the last part of the story and smiled again, just slightly, and dropped his eyes from Geddoe's. "She was not afraid to fight for that which she believed in....but peace....peace was her goal." He sighs, deeply, and after a moment looks back at Geddoe, face calm. "Thank you. I apologize for my behavior earlier, Sir Geddoe."

Geddoe shook his head slowly. "I didn't know you were so close. You fought in the same war, but that doesn't always make people...friends." He hesitated, not wanting to spit out any platitudes - he wasn't the sort of man to lie to spare feelings. But Camus looked so wounded, he felt the need to add something. "Nothing at Budehuc is ever...permanent. Not even I can say exactly how that Rune works."

"No....not permanent, but sometimes the idea of 'what if' is harder than letting go." Camus smiles again, but it is not only Nanami he is thinking of, and he shakes his head. "Lady Nanami is hopefully reunited with Lord Riou, perhaps even before this time." He doesn't try to explain his relationship with the young girl as it is too complicated even for his own words. She was a symbol, a reminder, and a pure innocent as well as a spitfire, something that every knight should fight for and protect. He turns to leave. "Thank you again, Sir Geddoe. I hope that you recover well."

"Yeah..." Belatedly, Geddoe remembered that she wasn't from this time. It seemed far more likely, then, that whatever happened inside that bubble of light wasn't what it appeared to be. It didn't assuage the loss, but it quieted him some. "I'm sorry, Camus," he added quietly.

Camus doesn't turn as he reaches out for the door, but nods, fingers resting on the wooden frame. "Thank you, let us hope this sorrow is unnecessary." He opens the door and let's himself out, quietly closing the door behind him.
