I'm watching this thing on MTV about the Holocaust. They're basically reading the diaries of teenagers, some who lived, but of course many who died.

Tomorrow is Yom Ha Shoah, and I think that the greatest tragedy of our time is the fact that, according to MTV, 53% of teenagers don't know what the Holocaust is. I don't know anyone who lived or died during the Holocaust, but I know that any time I read about it or watch a documentary, I cry. It may be in part because I'm Jewish, but in large part, it's because I'm a human being. In a few short years, all the survivors will be dead. The only direct link to this horrible history will be lost.

If people don't make an effort to learn, to understand, to remember, then the lives of those who survived will be in vain. They have dug into their tragic pasts so that the world will know the horrors of the Holocaust. We owe it to them, and to the millions who died, to never forget.
