Aaaaggghh! The mean monkey mononucleosis has jumped up on my back. I was invited to spend Thanksgiving at Aurora's this year, and I took her up on it. This was looking to be a good opportunity to take it easy and relax with my baby, and also spend some time with her family. Boy, I didn't know what I was in for! Wednesday afternoon after M&I, we got our stuff together and got on the road. I figured the sore throat that had started Monday and gotten only a tad worse since then would soon pass. Of course instead it in fact seemed to get worse with every passing mile, and by the time we reached Winter Haven that night, I was feeling horrible. Thanksgiving morning saw me worse off than Wednesday night. I managed to make it out of bed for the Thanksgiving supper, which was wonderful, and then, with the exception of going to see a doctor ($60 out of pocket) the next day, I spent the rest of Thursday through Sunday in bed. Dear Aurora took wonderful care of me, and when she began to feel ill around Sunday, I reciprocated as best I could. We tried leaving that night, but the Fates had me lock my keys in my car in a Wendy's parking lot, and we decided to turn tail and head back to safe haven at the farmhouse. It was, I imagine, for our own safety. By Tuesday, I figured I was well enough to drive home. Rory's mom convinced her to stay so as to speed up the process of getting her tonsillectomy underway.
So that's how my Thanksgiving break went. It was a rather strange way to spend it, but I am utterly stoked to have spent it with my baby. Life is good when you have someone that cares about you the way she does about me. I went to Thagard last week and got the diagnosis, and now the semester's about wrapped up. I'll be taking an incomplete in M&I, and maybe graph theory, too, and I have one exam left to proctor. Then home I go, and the sooner the better: I need some company, and Tia won't let me visit Ror on account of my monkey! Alas, I must wait to smile in my love's embrace.
