I'll try again...

Nov 12, 2004 01:11

So I’ll try and write my post for the second time in two nights, which sucks because yesterday it was really long with a lot of cool stuff in it. I’ll try her again…

So I live in Ottawa now, and it is really awesome. I love my room, my friends, my school and the city here. Overall, everything is going really well for me right now. I’ve been settled in for a long while, I have had no transition problems, and I love not having to go to work all the time.

When I first got here I was sad to realize that I was to live in Glengarry. It is the oldest residence, with the smallest rooms, and worst of almost everything. However when I finally got to my room, unpacked, met all my suite mates, and everyone on my floor I was really happy with how things worked out. Marc is my roommate, Mike is in my suite, and the other three guys in my suite are awesome. We are all in the same program, we all play guitar, and we all share a lot of interests. Most of those who read this will already know who Marc and Mike Nunn are, so no need to say anything about them.

My roommates who are unknown to the LJ world are Kurtis, Sean and Andrew. Sean is from St. Catherine’s and he likes a lot of cool music. The first couple weeks we were here he got with a lot of girls because he and his girlfriend were “on a break”. No they are back together I guess so he doesn’t get with girls anymore. Kurtis is from Sarnia, and he is one of the funniest people around. He says some really funny random stuff. He constantly reminds me he isn’t a gamer, but he likes games where he can shoot stuff that isn’t aliens. He likes a lot of heavy music like Bane and stuff. We often get into random conversations about Bane, and other random acts like Alicia Keys. Andrew is Kurtis’ roommate, and he is a really cool guy too. He likes football a lot. He is going to the Grey Cup. He is one of the most wholesome guys I have ever met. We have been known to share a good laugh. He is out a lot though. It seems he is ALWAYS going out to “meet up with some people”. That’s the brief synopsis of my roommates that are not known to the east coast world.

Since I have moved here I have done so much awesome stuff. I wish I had written in this more, because now I feel like sharing it all but that would take hours to write about, so I will do my best to sum up the best bits.

I went to a Senses Fail/The Bled show a few weeks back. It was one of the better shows I have been too. Marc and I were right up front of the rowdy crowd, and we were all over the mic for the majority of the show. They are definitely one of my favorite bands right now. Their new disc is ill.

I really like hanging out with/making fun of the foreign students here. Adam (from England) is my best known foreign student. We hang out a lot and play FIFA 2k5 a lot. It is fun. It’s weird cause he beats me more that I beat him, yet he had hardly ever played Xbox before he came here. He is really into Soccer, and we have had some good discussions about the sport. He supports Tottenham Hotspur in the English premiership. He is diehard about his club. He often spends weekend afternoons in front of a computer hitting refresh to check up on the scores. He says a lot of funny stuff like “cheese toasty”. Apparently a cheese toasty is the same as a grilled cheese sandwich. Friggen brit. He is really funny, and he likes to drink a lot. We have had some good times.

Adey is from Dubai (Saudi Arabia). He is hyperactive, and often quite annoying. But all in all he makes everyone laugh by telling us random things. For instance, the other day I convinced him that all North American guys use anal beads. So he told me that Arabs us olive oil to whack off with. That was a conversation ender. He then said it gets really hot when he goes fast. That’s just weird.

Halo 2 just came out so a lot of my time is spent with that. Its really good. Mike and I have already beaten it. I probably spend too much time with Halo and not enough time with calculus and mechanics. Oh well. Thinking about Halo just reminded me of the Revenge of the Sith trailer that just came out. It is one of the best things I have seen. It sent shivers down my spine. I can’t wait to see it.

I really miss jamming with the boys. That was probably my favorite thing to do at home, and I obviously can’t do that here. It wasn’t even so much the jamming, as hanging out with Matt Cole and Marc and just making stuff up. It was really awesome. I can’t wait to do that again.

Yesterday I found out Bernadette has never tried such foods as:
1) Sandwiches
2) Hamburgers
3) Peanut Butter
4) Kraft Dinner
5) Bacon

and many other foods that would be considered normal in a child’s diet. I don’t know how she has lived this long without eating a SANDWICH. I cannot believe it. It is one of the more confusing things I have ever encountered.

A few quick points to finish it off for tonight:

- I got a flu shot yesterday. No flu for me.
- MGD is good
- Having a foam pad on your bed makes it 350x times better.

What the hell…. I have more to say.

Frosh week was one of the best weeks ever. It was non stop madness, swearing, sex jokes, sex songs, and hilarious things happening. For instance, I spent an afternoon wandering around a mall trying to get any girl to give me her underpants. That was pretty embarrassing/funny. One of the nights we stayed up all night building a boat out of materials we found/stole from random places around the city. We were building it on the top floor of a parking garage, and some people set up some drums, a guitar and a bass. It was really fun jamming at 2 in the morning in the open air so high up. Our boat sucked though. It came in second last in the boat race between all the frosh groups/

I have gone to the casino 4 times since I have been here (it awesome having Quebec only a few minutes away). Overall I am -$35. That is not bad for 4 nights. My biggest win has been $85 on a slot machine. I have won some at BJ as well. BJ is my favorite game to play, although it sucks that the minimum bet at the cheapest table is $10. It is such a rush putting that much money on the line. I can’t wait to hit it up with Cole. We are gonna own that Casino, while Marc bets his petty quarters at the horse races. I really can’t wait for that. I wish I could go to the casino in Halifax. It is probably way better than the Gatineau one. I’m not addicted… honestly.

I cannot wait for Xmas break either. I can’t wait to see the parents and my dog. My dog has grown so much, and she is so funny. She is in obedience school. She passed level one, and is struggling with level two. That’s my girl. See everyone will be awesome actually. Hopefully there will be some good parties with the crew or some shit. I really am going to try hard to not waste my limited time at home. I know I am going to end up sleeping for half of it anyways. I don’t finish exams until Dec.21 either so I won’t be home until at least the 22nd. And if the weather is shitty (which is not unlikely) it could be even later. It better not be. I am flying home with Marc though so I won’t have to sit around by myself, or spend Xmas alone if the weather screws me over. Marcy and I can have a makeshift Xmas. My own bed and some home cooking would be awesome. I really miss my Dad’s cooking, he is awesome.

One night when Mike and I were drinking Fireball, he broke down crying. He told me how he missed home so much and stuff. He was crying on and off for over an hour. It was so funny. I could not stop laughing. I was laughing so hard I actually could not hold up my own weight. It was crazy. That was a really fun night.

Today a school newspaper was released with an article about my suite in it. We built a bar in our suite, and some student reports came and took pictures of us and interviewed us. It’s pretty cool. The article grossly misquoted us and made some stuff up, but all in all it is pretty cool. Our suite was featured as a “campus hot spot” or something. Weird and cool.

Well it is 1am, and I could probably continue rambling on for hours, but I doubt anyone has read this far anyways… except maybe Cole.

Post some replys please
For those about to rock… I still salute you.
