things have changed for me

Okay, so I didn't finish all my reading for tomorrow yet, but idc, I wanted to do this. Taken from samedifference_, and I will, like she did, tag all the bandomer's on my f-list to do this!

A BANDOM BEGINNINGS MEME.

1. Bandom fangirl since:
2. First band in the fandom:
3. How, why, and when did you get into bandom? Was it a gradual thing, or did bandom basically slam you in the face? Did you resist at first? Who was involved in your downfall?
4. What did your core bandom band look like when you got into the fandom? What fashion phase where they in?
5. What was your first impression of each of them?
6. What was the first bandom fic you ever read? What did you think of it?
7. When was your first bandom concert experience? What was it like?

1. Bandom fangirl since: Fall 2006. This is actually a little complicated for me because I was a fan of Fall Out Boy, Panic, TAI…, and My Chem before I knew there was a fandom for them. So sometimes I think I was in bandom before I even realized it, but fall of 2006 was when I found the fandom, started reading fics about these bands and actually investing a lot more time into learning about them and caring about them.

2. First band in the fandom: Technically Fall Out Boy, I guess. Wow, my friend gave me a copy of Take This To Your Grave in 2003. That seems really long ago. I remember being ridiculously entertained when Pete’s dick fiasco happened and having a good laugh about it with friends.

3. How, why, and when did you get into bandom? Was it a gradual thing, or did bandom basically slam you in the face? Did you resist at first? Who was involved in your downfall? Panic at the muther-effing Disco sucked me into bandom. I saw a picspam of PATD post at boy_touching (it was around the time of NRWC) and being all, “They are so pretty and they like to touch each other!” I had just started reading slash for my other fandoms around that time, so bandom was basically perfect for me. It was definitely a gradual thing, though. I had been listening to and loving the FBR bands for a long time already, and finding the fandom for them was just the icing on the cake.

4. What did your core bandom band look like when you got into the fandom? What fashion phase where they in?

lol Ryan Ross.

5. What was your first impression of each of them? OMG confession. Initially I only knew who Brendon and Ryan were (thank you picspam), but did not know which one was Spencer and which one was Jon. I distinctly remember telling Erica, my roommate at the time, that I thought Jon was the drummer and Spencer was the bassist. All I knew was that Jon was not an original member and that he was sexier than Brent. But when I did finally know who was who, I did not find Spencer sexy at all so I didn’t care much for him (HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED), and I thought Ryan was beautifully quiet, and Brendon was amazingly attractive and outgoing. Although getting into bandom as a whole feels gradual to me, I fell in love with Panic very quickly and intensely once I found bandom.

6. What was the first bandom fic you ever read? What did you think of it? I’m pretty positive it was The First Inconceivable Touch, but I honestly can’t remember if that was the first or just one of the firsts. Either way, I fucking loved it.

7. When was your first bandom concert experience? What was it like? I guess even though I wasn’t in the fandom at the time (um, bandom didn’t even exist then, as far as I know) was when I saw Fall Out Boy for the first time in 2004 at Skate and Surf in Asbury Park, and it was absolute chaos. They played in the atrium of the building and not on the main stage and I swear to god everybody at the festival was packed in there. FOB was amazing and fun and the crowd was so so into it. I was shoved around, lost my friend, got kicked in the head for the first time by a crowd surfer, and was screaming every single word along with everyone else. When they played ‘Grand Theft Autumn’, the whole place exploded with energy and I will never forget it. This will always be my favorite FOB show. Maybe because it was my first time seeing them, or maybe because it was never like that again. And this can’t be a coincidence, but FOB just came up on iTunes while answering this question.

panic at the disco, fall out boy, bandom, memories
