Because the man's 68 years old, he has a family, he's actively touring, and as much as he'd like to answer all the letters, he just can't.

I'm a little disappointed myself, but I wish people would stop making a big deal of this. At least you can still write to Paul.

That's what I figured too - then again I'm not a beatles fan so I dunno!

he actually stopped touring two months ago. (i saw him in concert myself.) i'm hoping that there's something he isn't telling us and we're all just kind of getting upset over nothing but just because he added "peace and love" after "I'M WARNING YOU" doesn't make it any better. D:

i just didn't like that he said he would literally throw letters away after the 20th. it doesn't cost anything to write "wrong address" on a letter and put it back in the mailbox. we do that all the time with letters mailed to people who lived in this house before us.

It doesn't cost anything, but when you're getting hundreds of letters per week, it adds up.

Also, the dude's been incredibly gracious in answering letters and autographing items for over 45 years. He deserves a break!

Just my two cents... laurak23 October 14 2008, 19:44:05 UTC
I honestly can't believe he's still taking requests and stuff like that. 99% of celebrities DON'T. They don't even acknowledge the letter at all. SOMETIMES they say if you include a self-addressed stamped envelope...But then you usually just get a run of the mill autographed headshot.

I don't blame him one bit. I would get tired of it, too. I'm sure there are other things he'd like to do with his life than worry about signing random things for a zillion people.

i don't blame him either. i can understand if he's always getting 'PRZ SIGN THIS FOR ME????' letters, but not all of the letters that come in are people begging for his name on a card.

i think it was just the way his message was. he seemed pretty pissed off about something, plus he's being really shady. is this whole thing temporary, or...?

That's a good point. Who knows, maybe he had a bad experience with someone sending him stuff. Like a semi-stalker or something. :\

Also, I meant to say in my other comment that I always thought it was great that he did that, since (like I said) so many celebrities do NOTHING. :( I mean...they wouldn't BE famous if it weren't for their fans' adoration!

i agree. maybe this is just until he gets tired of the lack of fanmail...? surely he'll want to return to receiving fanmail. it's the ultimate connection between an artist and his fans. who knows?

Don't worry, I found it lulzy! I suppose the "Y so srs?" should be aimed at the ones who find it...well..srs :\
But I've been thinking the same thing as you. I saw the video on the news this morning and was like "Huh?" Of course not all the fanmail will be autgraph requests, and I'm sure the majority of fans won't necessarily expect a reply, but just want to show their appreciation. To say that all post after the 20th Oct will be thrown away is so harsh
