I've been busy training, so I haven't had the chance to write about my lunch with Sakurai-kun until now!
It was his day off, and he was hungry, and me too because I'd been training, so we went to have some dim sum together. He asked how I was doing (because of my surgery a few years back), and I told him I was doing fine, though occasionally when the weather changes I hurt but that Gaia-sensei said it was all part of the healing process and how Hokage-sama said everything was knitting back together nicely but he didn't like seeing me when a sparring match with Nejiko puts me in the hospital for a day. Happily, I heal quickly. But Sakurai-kun told me to take it easy every once in a while. Wasn't that nice of him! I told him that because he asked, I would. For some reason, that comment made him laugh. He's got such a nice laugh! Quiet, but you can hear the joy of youth in it!
Gaia-sensei, could you help me come up with a regimen that's "less strenuous"?
Sakurai-kun said Hokage-sama had him do lots of busy-work, calling it endurance. I told him that I do a lot of endurance running, and offered to do runs with him because it can be really nice to have someone running with you (Gaia-sensei and I have whole conversations occasionally when we run together) because it makes the run more fun.
We also talked about strength training. I asked if Hokage-sama had Sakurai-kun wear weights like I did, and he said a few but not too heavy.
Then our food arrived and we had a lovely conversation about how we trained and he told me about some of the jutsu that Hokage-sama has been teaching him. Sakurai-kun's so smart, and so capable! Hokage-sama has to be thrilled to have him for a student! I wish I could do jutsu... Ah well!
When we were done eating, I recalled how he had mentioned he was low on funds because he had paid for Inosuke's lunch the day before, so I went ahead and paid for both of us. And then, because I know that Sakurai-kun's always uber-busy, I wished him a happy day off and went to go train some more. I don't take days off from training, but I know that other people (like Tensuke and Naruko-chan) like their days off to do things other than train, so I felt Sakurai-kun would like to have some time just for himself.
I hope you had a good day, Sakurai-kun! ♥
