What's the best way to spend your weekend? Well there are lots of answers to that, but here's what I'm doing this weekend...
1) Watch Dr Who[1].
2) Watch Strikeback[2].
3) Play the Dr Who Adventures game[3].
[1] Latest series - duh. Like I can resist Eleven's charms. I'm up to Victory of the Daleks. NB, since there are people here who still haven't got to the end of the series, please do refrain from posting finale spoilers in comments (or if you can't help yourself then flag them up).
[2] This is a three-part modern war drama starring Richard Armitage and Andrew Lincoln, but I'm watching it in six instalments of c.45 minutes each, which I think is how it was shown when it aired on Sky 1. I've seen one of the six so far, and it was very good. No spoilers please!
[3] This is a free game that you can download on the BBC's Dr Who website. It's a basic first person RPG (from a third person pov), where you play as the Doctor and go through each 'episode' (there are currently two - one with Daleks, one with Cybermen) task-by-task. It's not difficult stuff, or at least at my stage (just got past the first scenario of the first game) it's not, and I'm sure it's designed with children in mind. BUT it rather feels like you're inside an episode of the show and going through the action yourself, so is quite exciting. Matt Smith and Karen Gillan have done the voices, which makes it feel quite special. You may not warm to it if you're a hardcore gamer, but if you're a hardcore Eleven fan I can't see how you could resist.
