Current t.v show obsession

Spooks: At last, an easy one! My current obsession is Spooks. I first got into it when I followed Richard Armitage from Robin Hood to his new role in Spooks season 7 (2008) as the rather lovely and quite dark and tortured agent Lucas North. Then I watched season 8 the next year, and that Christmas (i.e. last Christmas, 2009) James bought me seasons 5 and 6. Then James bought me 4 and me and my Mum clubbed together to buy 3 (watched the first one last night - no spoilers for the rest of the season please!).

It's an awesome show. What with spying being a high-risk job, there's a high turnover of characters, but Harry (the boss) has been in it from the start and he's awesome, and Malcolm has been in nearly all of it and he's super-awesome (definitely my favourite out of the lot). I love Lucas, as I said, and I'm also madly in love with Ros. Oh, and Zaf. Ben is great. Adam is a complete nutter, but I like him. Jo gets on my nerves. Ruth is good most of the time, and gets extra points for being a Classicist. Tariq is OK but nowhere near as lovely as Malcolm. Fiona was quite sweet. I'm only just met Zoe and Tom and Danny, so I'll see what I think about them. Have I missed anyone out? (I suppose occasional characters count, of which I adore Robert Glenister as the old and Tobias Menzies as the new Home Secretary, and Tim McInnerny as Mace was brilliant, and I quite liked Anna Chancellor as Juliet, etc.)

Oh, and yes, the plots are great. There's plenty of action (I'm a big fan of gratuitous bombs and guns and the like, call me shallow!), but it's also underpinned by decent storylines. You can overlook the implausible bits or occasional mis-scripting ("Just in case you didn't know after working here for thirty years, boss, I'll remind you at this crucial moment that our comms don't work underground"), because for the most part it's made of awesome. Everyone should try it - but not just one episode, you have to stick with it for a while because the best bits are, IMO, the characterisation and long-running storylines.
