About half an hour ago I switched on the computer, connected to the internet (using IE7) and started checking my emails. Ten minutes or so later, the computer shut itself down and I got a blue screen error message. This has never happened before.
Microsoft says:
Blue screen error caused by a device or driver
You received this message because a hardware device, its driver, or related software has caused a blue screen error. This type of error means the computer has shut down abruptly to protect itself from potential data corruption or loss. In this case, we were unable to detect the specific device or driver that caused the problem.
I haven't installed any new hardware or software for a long time. I don't think I've recently done anything other my usual practice (internet using IE7, work using MS Word and Powerpoint, and not much more). I'm checking for viruses now but so far nothing has come up.
Any ideas what might have been the cause? Would appreciate advice!
