Film: The Dark

OK, so Sean Bean looks great in it. That doesn't really make it worth watching, so don't bother. The premise is that SB's character is living in a remote bit of Wales with a history of people doing weird cultic stuff, and his American ex-wife (I think) and daughter come to stay with him. Soon the daughter has disappeared, a weird Welsh girl who's really dead has turned up, and a rather annoying Maria Bello as the ex-wife is running around believing everything instead of being upset about their daughter. There's also some weird behaviour from the surrounding sheep, which is why I was watching it in the first place. It's reasonably spooky for a while, but turns into an incredibly dull exploration of how the lands of the dead and living come together. Hmm, I'm making it sound much more exciting than it really is, but don't be fooled! One of the biggest problems is that they clearly couldn't decide how to end it, and so settled on a succession of different possible endings that they pretend work as a flowing narrative - they don't.

TV: Doctors

They have a new doctor in Doctors, and he's just wonderful. A pompous ex-surgeon with a habit of saying and doing the wrong thing. Just perfect. He can stay :)

TV: Emmerdale

Was brilliant last week, yay!

In other news, look out for new Spooks starting tonight, Dead Set starting tonight, and Sharpe next Sunday.
