The Mays

I'm wanting to enter something for the Mays. Does anyone have experience of the kind of thing they go for? My strength is in short story writing, so that'll probably be the kind of thing I'll go for. But what about length, subject matter, things they do/don't like? Any advice appreciated, as I haven't thought strategically about this before.
