Ooh, yay, I love your list. Even though I am still in TOTAL ANGUISH over the majority of this episode, I do have to agree with a lot of your points which make it some levels of awesome.
16) Meanwhile, Marian sort of let everything Guy had been hiding slip by attacking the Sheriff openly. ... So, more than most other strands of the two episodes, I think this one felt like a plot device.
A day later, and this is STILL my biggest hangup with the episode -- I feel like Marian was just one giant plot device in this episode, which was frustrating to NO END because usually she is my most favourite person in the world. Ugh...
33) But OMG, Guy didn't do it! ... What he did was right on so many levels, and it made me completely forget that I'd been hoping he would do as Marian wished and end up marrying her.
...But it did somehow turn Guy into my most favourite person instead. I mean, I've always loved him, but I thought I would go into full on hatred mode if he chose the Sheriff over Marian. And somehow it played out so right, to the point where it would have been really lame to have him cave to Marian's manipulations in this scene.
38) It was so sad, and yet somehow so right for the character, when Guy flipped and drove his sword into her. And a wonderful metaphor for what he's been wanting to do for her all along indeed!
Haha, this is so hilarious, but omgsotrue!! I have awarded this scene the official title of being the Most Erotic Stabbing Ever (not that I have many other erotic stabbings with which to compare. But whatever), which is why I sort of love it. And, really, I feel like at least some of that had to be intentional, because it was such an overt release of Guy's pent up passions for her. The framing of this scene which really does not look like a stabbing once they close in on it, the contrast of their outfits with Guy violating Marian's virginal whiteness, the shivering intensity of Guy's embrace... there's no way they didn't mean that to be at least a tiny bit sexual.
