Firstly, thank you so much to my anonymous benefactor, who paid for a whole nother year (tmesis looks so wrong when you write it out, doesn't it?) of paid LJ accountness for me. Lots of hugs to you :)

Secondly, Dr Who was very good last night.
On balance, I thought it could have been much scarier than it was - the only bit that actually frightened me was when one of the angels was suddenly standing over them and had its fangs out (though the rest was certainly unsettling, just not heart-stoppingly scary). But it was well-plotted, nicely executed, sad in the right places, and the pacing and revelation was just right. Sally Sparrow just wasn't as likeable as Elton from Love and Monsters last year, but she carried the weight of the drama well enough. The 'wibbly-wobbly' space-time thing reared its head again, but was neatly explained away by the maxim that time isn't about causation or linearness. I wasn't sure about the bit at the end suggesting that most statues are also these creatures but we couldn't possibly know if they are or not (they even seemed to include bronzes in this bit, which was a bit contradictory). But I'm only complaining about the details because I liked it so much.
Next week looks good, doesn't it? Will someone do me a favour and remind James to record it on Saturday for me? ;)
