I'm not sure about going to a May Ball this year. I'd like to, but the odd thing is putting me off, like not knowing what other people are doing and general priceyness. But I'd like to have a few May Balls under my belt, and I've only been to two so far.
I've thought of four options:
1) I go along to CTS May Balling if it gets arranged.
2) I find a group of people who'd like to randomly go to a May Ball (social non-CTS but not necessarily not CTS people, obviously).
3) I just go with James.
4) I don't go.
As for which Ball to go to, I'm not sure.
muflet suggested
Homerton (but I didn't really engage with the theme so much, and it's far out and so more difficult to get to[1]) for CTS, and
naath suggested
Newnham (I thought the theme sounded fantastic, and would love to go, but it's still a lot of money for one night of fun).
*I* thought
St Edmund's May Ball sounded pretty good with its Cuban theme - and what's more, it's considerably cheaper (£55) than most of the others. Also, the theme of
Downing (Celtic goddess Danu) sounds amazing, but that one is £94.
Other options include...
-
Robinson (
-
Jesus (Through the Looking Glass)
NB Queens' is apparently sold out.
[1] Yes, I know that last time I May Balled I got a taxi home from Jesus...
So, does anyone have any thoughts? You can also email me (pms45) if you're a non-LJ person reading this, but emailing the CTS discussion list might be best.
I'm still thinking St Ed's looks a good option... Actually, where *is* St Ed's?
