Birthdayness

My birthday outing was lovely yesterday.

Castle Acre Castle was lovely. It has great defences considering it's quite small. And the keep is set strangely far down in comparison to the curtain wall - it makes you think tunnelling through would have been a good option for attackers, though I doubt they would have got past the moat. What made me squee the most was the bailey (yes, it was motte and bailey, and a fine if small example) was right there to be seen - so often they've been built over. The bailey has wonderful earthworks that I don't think have been excavated. It made me want to come back at night with a spade ;) Anyway, there are three pictures to illustrate it in this folder.

Then we went to Wells (carnival!) and Hunstanton (home of Stephen Fry, though I've never seen him on the seaside!). In Hunstanton I got me a pirate hat, *squeeeee* It's not often that I like a picture of me, but I liked this one (and there's one in the folder mentioned above) enough to post it!

There was also a trip to Tesco, where I checked my phone and found lots of lovely birthday messages from people :)

And then there was partyness back home, which was lovely. Mmm, German salami...

me, fun, squee, birthdays, pirates, parties
