And I take it you have pretty easy internet access up there at Cambridge? Because I'm an internet addict. The life changes would be even bigger than just moving across the pond already is. ;-)
Also random question... do they let grad students have jobs? I'm trying to talk my Borders into transferring me to the Cambridge Borders. :-D
Internet access is indeed easy :) College and Faculty computers are generally enough for me and great for spodding, but if you e.g. have an addiction to flash animations then you're best having your own computer (or laptop - Faculty also has good facilities for laptop usage there) in your room. I've never brought my computer to college, but I hear it's relatively hassle-free to get internet ready.
Random answer: Um, I think you might need to check. People don't usually have jobs during MPhil (because it's a year of very hard work compressed into small amounts of time in some cases[1]), so I'm not sure if it's actually allowed or not. At PhD I think you can (well, you can do teaching stuff anyway, so you'd think so). Best to check with the authorities I think.
Haha! I'm bringing my laptop for sure. :-D Thanks!
My mother finished reading more of the admissions packet than I did, and she said that it says I can't work. This ruins my dreams of transfering to a British Borders and seeing how differently the computers work! Oh well!
It's probably also safer for my mental health. ;-)
