Advice appreciated!

There are a few things I need advice/help/thoughts on. I'll cut it so people don't get fed up with me ;)

1. I remember someone mentioned to me last year that their bank did graduate funding loans. Does anyone know anything about this? Would a bank lend you enough for a whole PhD when you have no income?

2. I have a PC game called 'Evil Genius', which I know to be pretty cool. However, it made my last computer crash several times and I didn't play it after that. Now I have a new computer. Question is, would the fact that my old computer didn't have the required graphics card (my current one does!) be enough to make it crash, or could there be some fault with the game?

3. I noticed with my old computer that the mouse would do strange things playing some games (LOTR, Evil Genius - high graphics types). It became very difficult to control the cursor, and the screen would whizz all over the place. Not fun. Would the weak graphics-ness of my old computer cause this, or could it be a fault of the games?

4. Can anyone tell me some stuff about french pronunciation? Firstly, how do you pronounce word-final 'x' (esp. before a vowel!)? Secondly, how do French speakers tell the difference between singular and plural in speech, because these tend to sound identical, don't they? Or am I missing something?

Much thanks for advice :)
