Calling all French-speaking types!
I keep coming across the word 'compatabilite' (shoud be an acute on the 'e', sorry). The big f***-off dictionary of doom tells me this means 'compatability' *facepalm* However, the more I encounter it, the more I suspect it has some special significance. Anyone have an idea of a range of meanings for it? The context is Mycenaean, specifically the Linear B texts, or things they refer to, seem to have this as a quality. Or something.
Other than that, French is going really well. Really. Still hate the damn language though. Fortunately my Romance sensibility[1] is preventing ridiculous amounts of dictionary usage.
I should say that I decided I love two things about French - the word 'vraisemblable', and the past anterior tense. Not at all in a rational way.
Hereafter, a technical term. What I mean is, 'when you know one Romance language, the others start to have a certain transparency of idiom or vocabulary or, hopefully, both'. This does not help with French verbs.

In other news, grrrrrrrrrrrrr. This sums up my current mood. I have a current lack of information concerning what the next week or so will hold. This irritates the hell out of me. Thank you for listening.
P.S. Now I have a 'grrr' tag, I really must remember the number of 'r's I put in it.
