Answers is only another questions...
“Stay still, Ivan. Don’t move.” Yao whispered again and then he laid down, head at Ivan’s chest, silently still heard the beating heart. For some reason, it was comforting him.
“Da?” confused Ivan just sat stilled then brightened and wrapped his hand to his beloved. “Does Yao-Yao want to cuddle?”
Yao snorted. “Ivan…just let me resting a bit. You had made me do a lot of mental struggle.”
“Eh? I did?” another confused voice.
What a naïve dense human that he fell…With a sigh, Yao decided. Even that he knowing or not, Ivan would keep his life till his last breath as human, damn with rule. If the noisy Alessandro could keep his private affair for decades then he could do it too.
Ivan himself looked like he was in cloud nine. Here he was, cuddling with his beloved that willingly let him to hugged him, caressed him, and kissed him. And him, being a generous person he was, he kissed and caressed Yao to his heart contain.
“Vampire.”
“Hm?” Ivan didn’t register at all, he busily felt his beloved. Ah…what a porcelain-like skin…what Yao used to maintain the softness…? And so pale… He took Yao’s hand and compared it with his.
“Vampire,” Yao said again.
Ivan blinked. “Eh?” He seemed lost. What connection about them and the myth creature?
Yao turned back. “You asked ‘what am I’, right? Now, I’ll indulge you…or you had changed your mind?”
“No.” Ivan shook his head with eyes that widen, disbelieved. “Eh…so you’re telling me that you’re a vampire? Uh…uh…that blood-sucking mindless corpse?! Ugly bloated rotting appearance and can change to a bat with a puff?!”
Yao raised his eyebrow. “What the hell is that?!” he looked annoyed. “Are you seeing me like that?”
Ivan shook his head again. “No. Yao is too pretty…and sophisticated…and…I never see you drink any blood…you always prefer tea after all…”
“You just don’t have change to see me drinking blood yet…” Yao murmured. He didn’t know if he must feel offended that Ivan never saw him as vampire or he must happy that he didn’t get categorized under a misguide of his race…Seriously, a mindless corpse with bloated rotting body? And….a bat!? “I just don’t have need to drink blood every time.” That. And the fact that he was…a bit picky at the taste (yes it tasted differ for different people). Not all blood could satisfy him.
“Why?”
Yao looked at the curious violet eyes. There was no fear in it, just an honest wish to know him and smile that as cheery as it was creepy. “Ivan…even in vampire sociality…I’m…an exceptional…you could say that I’m a monster even within the monsters…First, I could walk under sun. Even this is winter but you had seen me in morning and afternoon. Second, even this is essential---I don’t need to drink blood to sustain my life. I only need it if I’ve been wounded fatally…or it has been too long since the last time I drink it.”
“So…Yao-Yao is the strongest?” violet eyes looked with awe.
Yao was shaking his head. “Rather than being called the strongest, you could called me as one of The First, The Eldest, or the most common-The Ancient. I---along with my six friends---am the original vampire that had been created since the beginning of time. We are the ones that set down the foundation of our race civilization. The others are the former human that we regard as essential for our race and so we took them.”
“…so your sibling…?”
“It much more appropriate to call them as my Childe and me as their Sire…” Yao pondered. “They’re still a small child when I turned them…but they already had habit to call me as brother…so…Well it prove to be alright at present because I am not looked awkward as their brother in appearance…”
“Oh…so Yao is the oldest! How old are you?” Ivan declared cheerfully.
Yao’s eye twitched and he murmured, “Around 5 thousands…”
Ivan blinked and then said it in sing-song voice. “Wow….Yao-Yao is old…”
Yao shoved him. Hard. “Respect your elder.”
Ivan was laughing. “Yao-Yao is so cute~” His hug become tighter and it was a relief that Yao didn’t need to breath. “Yao love me after all~”
What a sudden comment… Yao entangled himself and looked annoyed at Ivan. “Since when?” Really how could Ivan know something that he never said? And it was about Yao himself!
Ivan just hugged Yao again (how he could hug tighter than before?) and squealed. “Since I woke up first time! I know Yao-Yao the best after all!” He seemed suspicious happy…
“Do you ever thinking that I may never return you feeling?”
“Never! Because I love Yao-Yao!!”
“…how you come to such conclusion…?”
“Because I love Yao the best!”
Yao just looked at him with exasperation but then smiled hopelessly. It was weird…this warm foreign feeling. Love is a strange and distant word. Yao always thought so and now that he had experienced it himself, it still strange…but not as distant anymore.
Laying back his head, he decided to enjoy the night. Outside, the snows were falling as soft, undisturbed, and silent as ever. Maybe a warm cup of tea would be nice. And he needed to clean all this mess…maybe tomorrow? He felt quite lazy now…and Ivan was a nice pillow…
And then like that, the silent calmness halted. Yao stiffened.
“Yao-Yao?”
“Human…” Yao said, cold steel gaze returned even that he still played with Ivan’s scarf. “There’re human outside...”
Ivan looked amused, he had undone Yao’s ponytail. “How can you know? It’s a rare recurrence? Maybe some travelers were just passing. After all you find me outside months ago.”
“That’s not just rare. In five hundred years, it’s only you that passing here. Believe me when I said that this area is a lot more difficult to find and not many people want to take a walk here.” Yao said calmly, hand now playing with Ivan’s hair and the said person enjoying his undivided attention like a spoiled child. “And for your other question, that’s because one of things that gifted to us is a sharp senses.”
“Hmm~ and…what you heard again?”
“They halted once in a while, it seemed that they’re searching something.”
“Hmm~”
“Around thirty people. From their even step, they’re soldier if not someone that had military training. Hmm, their conversation is a lot more panic now…like they’ve find something after all…” Yao report steadily. “Ah…they just find the leftover of human that you kill before…”
“Eh? You had find that when you save me?”
“Well, the bloods and limbs are everywhere after all…” Yao shrugged. “It’s hard not to notice. And from your ways of killing…You’re a violent type,” he chided.
“But, it’s mean that you had know all along that I killed them…da?” Ivan was pouting. “And here I’m thinking that you knew nothing at first…”
“Impossible,” Yao looked annoyed. “Even if I didn’t find the other corpses---just seeing you---I’ve know that you’re a shady man that done dirty work, Ivan. I’m an idiot if I don’t realize the dark purple sinister aura that you radiate every time.”
“Eh? Really? I’ve aura?”
Yao nodded. “With that kind of----ah…the soldier they are terrified of something---no---someone… General Winter? Is that their superior?”
The hand in Yao’s hair stopped, making the vampire looked up. “Your acquaintances?”
The vampire raised his eyebrow curiously when the temperature went lower. A dark disturbing aura filled the air, enough to choke someone to dead. Violet eyes shone in mad bloodlust. And then he smile in manner that chilling down Yao’s body.
“Da~ A very very dear acquaintance.” His tone sickeningly happy.
