So. My roommate got married last weekend. Well, I suppose she isn't my roommate anymore but I'm not quite ready to let go so leave me alone. :)
I'd like to say a few words about Carley.
She was an excellent roommate. She kept her area clean, was considerate, and didn't sit in the room on her phone all the time... she went into the living room, and I think that was nice of her. She let me use her stapler and tape when I needed it, even her printer when mine crapped out on me. We all know how valuable printer ink is.
More than just a roommate though, Carley is an excellent friend. We did a lot of talking about her life and relationship with Nick this quarter, but that isn't meant as a complaint on my part, just stating a fact. That is how friendships work. Carley did plenty of listening to my woes and triumphs last year, and even a few that happened this year (we've shared tears together over tough things that've happened in the last couple of years, and it's been the best growth I've experienced for a long time). But this year it was finally Carley's turn. She spends a lot of time making sure others get their limelight and her year FINALLY came.
Here is the deal about Carley. She has this very quiet way about her, you know? sort of like this lack of pretentiousness. And you know what it is? She's really mature. Like, really. And you know where that comes from? Her faith. Yeah.
I have this image of what it looks like to be a woman after God's heart. It's a mixture of the Proverbs 31 woman, my Mom, Judy Henninger, and Laura Bush. I think if you combine all those things that is what constitutes the core of a woman of faith, and then you throw in personality traits because duh, not everyone is the same, and you get a real woman.
Like me, I'm a spaz. Carley is not.
Carley has the skills of a Proverbs 31 woman; she cooks very well, knows how to clean (we lost our cleaning supplies with her), and pays attention to all details associated with those sorts of things. Carley has the same soft grace as my own mother, the same lack of pretension, and wisdom that comes from the Word. She has the same ferocity of faith as Judy. And finally she has the presenting face as Laura Bush, and I'm pretty sure she'll have just as good if not better hair someday.
There really wasn't much point to this blog concerning my own life, just that I had and have a very good friend. I think I just realized she isn't coming back. It's ok, it's not sad. I miss her, but there is joy in knowing God has called and someone has answered without hesitating. I mean, not hesitating at all. They moved their wedding up six months. Serious lack of hesitation.
Carley, you are a good friend. I love you.
(PS - Nick, I'm sure you love her more, don't freak out)
(PSS - The wedding was FREAKING AWESOME! I'll post pics later. Actually, I won't... just check out my flickr.
