Recent Events

In the last two weeks there have been an alarming number of serious events taking place in the lives of the Hopps. I say alarming because 1. these events involve cancer, and 2. there is no baby yet. I shall explain furthur. Monday before last my Grandma went in for a routine mammogram and was told she had a serious lump and it should be removed immediately. Immediately in this case meaning the next morning. After this first operation the doctor told my Grandma that she positively had cancer and not all of it had been removed in the lumpectomy. So, surgery was once again scheduled for the following Tuesday. During this time my Mom had been back and forth between Grammy's house and ours, and my Aunt Keen even flew out from Minnesota late Saturday night. Last Monday my sister and I went with my Mom to be with Grammy before and after her surgery. I haven't cried so much in a very long time, if ever. It was a very emotional time for my family, especially between my Grandma and I. Tuesday morning's surgery went by fabulously though, and within a couple hours of surgery Grammy was up and walking around. Mastectomy's are not light surgery either. She's one tough cookie. All the cancer is gone, and thankfully never spread into the chest wall. God is good. Speaking of... there is nothing like an intense week of emotional highs and lows caused over a loved's one's struggle to make you turn off your own thoughts and focus in on what God's will is. It is in the most desperate moments of crisis that He draws me closest to Himself. God is good. As for the baby... my cousing Ashley's second child has yet to arrive, and has caused his/her mother considerable emotional stress and high blood pressure in his/her reluctance to make an appearance. Aside from severe annoyance, however, Ashley is doing well and we all eagerly await this new little one.

Aside from all this intensity... I now have a youtube account. Check it out... I'm rochellemaureen.
