Happy New Year, everyone.
Apropos of nothing: has anyone ever noticed the similarities in the relationships between Superman and Jimmy Olsen, and Duncan MacLeod and Richie Ryan? They even *look* the same, in a way. I can't believe I'm the only one who's seen this -- there's got to be stories out there, surely, in the vast, all-consuming deeps that are the 7th Dimension archive. (Actually I was just thinking the other day how Richie as a character has grown on me, all unsuspecting, over the years. Sort of like fungus, only nicer.
End of Richie insights, I'm afraid. I still think Stan Kirsch is a crap actor.)
The Superman/Jimmy/Duncan/Richie (not in THAT way!!) realisation was brought home to me by seviet, who posted a link the other day to superdickery.com, a deeply wonderful vintage DC comics piss-take site. I was much more of a Marvel girl, and never into DC (although my youngest uncle was, and I recognised a couple of the covers they featured). Anyway, the funniest thing there was the double-entendre part of the site: Seduction of the Innocent.
Actually, in most cases, there wasn't a double meaning. There was only one all along -- did people really not see it in those more innocent days? Fun and laughs for all, guaranteed. This one's my favourite. (Though this one is pretty funny, too.)
And simply because I missed the episode and had to go looking for the cap:
Yes, I know Rome is a big pile of pants, but -- naked James Purefoy!!
I can forgive a lot for that.
Finally, after reading The Dark is Rising before Christmas, I'm now ploughing my way through the joys of the Mabinogion. Male incest, rape, bestiality and mpreg -- huh. Who needs fanfic?
