If there's one constant in every fandom, it's the bashing of female characters. List your favourite 10 female characters of any fandom and why you like these girls/women.
Seems like a meme I should do, though I'm less interested in female media characters than those from books.
Would Anya be a Trickster? She's so ingenuous, though, that maybe not. I think you may be on to something, that the Trickster might be someone threatening to the Heroine. Maybe not so much if the Trickster is an old woman? If Granny Weatherwax is a flawed Heroine, is Nanny the Trickster?
Overall I don't think Anya would classify as a Trickster, although she's close: the first time we see her, Ethan Rayne would have been proud of the stunt she pulled. She does have the required moral ambiguity, but I think that may come from her being unpractised in human behaviour, rather than her purposely trying to muddy the moral waters.
I'm not familiar enough with Discworld to have anything sensible to say about your other comment, but I've done a little reading about the characters since you posted this, and they do sound fascinating. I may have to read the books now.
4. Eddi! I'd forgotten about Eddi! I read that in middle school or junior high. It was my first love of a man who turned into a dog. And Eddi rocked hard.
It was you who first recommended War for the Oaks to me, and I love it. Eddi is a brilliant heroine.
I haven't forgotten about your Dr Who requirements but am having trouble tracking down anyone with a currently working dvd recorder; sorry. Oh, and the Daleks are back this Saturday. This is where it gets really scary for me.
I'd never heard of this, but it gets five stars everywhere I've looked. I'm glad you mentioned it -- another one to add to the to-read list. Have you seen the film?

I would add Cassandra from "I capture the castle" by Dodie Smith. It's my all time favourite story about a girl.
