The endless slash debate & other links
While researching something else (it was legitimate, honest, guv!) I came across this article which actually might have something to add to the endless and often pointless-seeming debate about why women like slash. (It also draws some parallels between Harry Potter and Orestes which may be either interesting or silly, depending on your outlook, level of scepticism and knowledge of Greek mythology.)
More research, this time about something else (though not unrelated, I suppose) yielded a gem of a site which had tears rolling down my face. I especially loved no. 16 in the list of Best Bad Baby Names.
Almost last link: a Shoe/Penis Size Conversion Chart (originally posted a while ago by I think cruisedirector and yes, I bookmarked it). I don't actually go around mentally comparing the size of men's shoes; but it does make for interesting speculation when you're bored...
Oh, and I'm not sure how true this rumour about Dougray Scott is; but if it happens, can I just say it would make me happy? The best thing I've read about this is that when he was asked what kind of Bond he would be, he replied, 'Scottish, manly.' Manly! How wonderful. How many men are manly these days?
I've never understand the speculation surrounding some of the other candidates. Orlando Bloom is pretty, but doesn't seem yet to have the required gravitas (or manliness); and Clive Owen just looks as ordinary and plain as someone you went to school with.
