Greetings Everyone!
You are invited to join the Rochester Women’s Community Chorus. We’re a group of 30+ women of all different ages and lifestyles who really enjoy singing and the company of other women. The RWCC is a non-auditioned community chorus that was born in the fall of 1985. We perform two large concerts annually in Rochester as well as several smaller ‘run out’ concerts for various non profit organizations throughout the area. The group has enjoyed some fabulous collaborative performances and takes pride in the community service outreach that sets this chorus apart from many other musical organizations.
With all that said……this winter marks the first time in recent memory that RWCC will perform a more traditional winter holiday show. It also marks the first time in recent memory that we will be returning to our ‘home’ (our business office and rehearsal space is at this venue) for our next large performance. That home is the Downtown United Presbyterian Church located on N. Fitzhugh street in downtown Rochester.
On Saturday night December 12, the Rochester Women’s Community Chorus will be presenting the Spirit of the Season, a musical tribute to our holiday memories. The program will include some gorgeous arrangements of well known classics, songs about the human spirit, unusual arrangements of well known tunes, a song in the ancient Sephardic language Ladino, and some surprises that will put a smile on your face.
All women over the age of 18 are welcome to sing with us. No prior musical experience is necessary. Our first rehearsal will be on Tuesday September 8 and is open to returning members and those just ‘checking us out.’ Both women and men are invited to share their non-singing talents in a variety of ways. If you would like more information about the chorus, please call (585) 234-4441, our chorus voicemail. You may also visit us online at www.therwcc.org and discover more about our history, affiliations, recent performances etc.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in the fall. Until then, enjoy the rest of your summer.
In harmony,
Deborah Wachspress
(musical director)
