The Golden Compass
I haven't been this excited about an upcoming film since The Fellowship of the Ring. Not Harry Potter, not Hitchhiker's, not even Return of the King.
If you haven't read it, His Dark Materials is the most original fantasy work since The Lord of the Rings, and it's one of the few fantasy stories I actually enjoy and read. The first volume, Northern Lights, is being filmed as The Golden Compass, a title I don't mind so much as it ties in with the titles of parts two and three, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. I saw the trailer tonight and present it below. Oh. My. God.
