A cool breeze filled the room carrying with it the mixed scent of jasmine and lavender from the small basket sitting near the window. The curtains danced and the candles flickered, but Steve was oblivious to it all, fully immersed in gazing at Diana as she drifted off to sleep.
He pushed a stray curl away from her forehead and smiled knowing he could watch her for days on end. She looked so peaceful and was more beautiful than anyone or anything he’d ever laid eyes on and he was and would continue to be eternally thankful for every moment he spent with her. After being apart for nearly three weeks-one thing after another pertaining to either his job or hers always getting in the way-he has incredibly happy to have her in his arms again. He felt fully rejuvenated solely by spending the last few hours with his Angel, despite having slept very little. He’d been busy doing other things...
Now, he simply admired her. The lines of her body, a mixture of strength and feminine grace, tempting him to touch her... His hand ghosted from her hip up her waist, resting on the small of her back. His eyes wandered over her body settling on the delicate curves of her full, soft lips enticing him to kiss her, feel and taste her once more. He wanted to look into those ethereal blue eyes, whose color could only be matched by the clearest of earthly skies, and love her all over again…
But he realized how selfish his thoughts were and contented himself with placing one gentle kiss along her finger tips, then continued watching her sleep.
If anyone would have seen him then they would immediately noticed the absolute adoration that filled the pilot’s eyes as he gazed at his princess and they wouldn’t know whether to be jealous of her for having someone love her so ardently or of him for having someone to love so deeply.
