“Selina, stop that!”

Bruce picked up the black cat and sat down with it on his lap. He looked up at the computer screen and shook his head.

“Alfred, can you get Tim?”

“Of course, sir. Did you happen to see in what direction he fled?”

“I think he's in the vault.”

Alfred turned around and headed towards the vault. Bruce sat on his chair stroking the cat with his right hand and massaged the bridge on his nose with his left.

When he heard Alfred's steps coming closer, Bruce didn't look up. Alfred cleared his throat, it echoed in the cave.

“If I may be so bold, sir, how did this happened?”

...

“Don't you think...” with Batman's sudden glare, Robin stopped talking.

“The little bird has a point,” Catwoman began, ignoring the death glare Batman gave her, “That kid in there always handles things with magic. Maybe we should wait for Jason to get here.”

Batman hated magic, but he wouldn't be bullied by a spoiled witchboy, “We can handle this. Let's go.”

Catwoman sighed and wondered why she had volunteered to help him yet again. Sure, they had been at dinner when Robin alerted him about the museum break-in, but that didn't mean she had to come along.

Batman, Robin, and Catwoman all went in the museum through different access points. They were supposed to meet outside the museum's east wing. That's where the many medieval amulets, pendants, and weapons were on temporary display. All the lights were on, making it a bit difficult to go unnoticed.

Catwoman arrived first. The kid was currently inspecting an amulet by holding it up to the light. Catwoman approached slowly, wrapping her left arm around him and covering his mouth with her right hand. If he couldn't speak, he couldn't do any harm with his magic.

Batman and Robin arrived in time to see the amulet the witchboy was holding begin to glow brighter and brighter.

“Klarion, stop what you're doing.” Batman warned.

Catwoman turned to face him still holding the boy, an unreadable look in her eyes. Suddenly, the light emanating from the amulet engulfed Catwoman and Klarion.

Batman and Robin momentarily shielded their eyes and when they looked towards the other two again, only Klarion stood there with a black cat at his feet.

“What have you done?” Robin demanded.

Klarion smiled, “This amulet allows me to casts spells by simply thinking about them. No actual words are required.”

“Change her back.” Batman commanded.

“No. Why should I? She was trying to stop me from having fun. Uh-uh-uh, little Robin, I wouldn't do that if I were you.” Klarion's eerie smile sent a shiver down Robin's spine.

The amulet started glowing again, brighter and brighter until Robin was lost amidst the bright light. When it disappeared, Robin had been turned into a small robin with black feathers covering its head, back and wings, while in front, there were beautiful bright red feathers.

Klarion laughed as the robin flew around the room. Batman used the momentary distraction to throw a batarang at Klarion, effectively knocking the amulet from his grasp. He quickly rushed the young sorcerer and the kid had no chance.

With Klarion no longer a threat, Batman picked up the amulet and turned to see Jason Blood walk in.

“I see my assistance was not necessary.” Jason looked around at all the broken glass on the floor.

Batman struggled not to yell at him for being late, “Klarion used this on Robin and Catwoman.” he handed Jason the amulet, “Undo the spell.”

Jason looked around again, “I am afraid I must have them present.”

While focusing on Klarion, Batman failed to notice when either the cat or robin left the museum.

“Dammit. Don't go far. I'll contact you when I find them.”

...

“I see.” Alfred spoke softly. “Was it difficult to find them, sir?”

Bruce growled, thinking of the entire night wasted looking for two animals who didn't want to be found. When he had finally caught Tim, the small bird flew continuously while in the Batmobile and left a few gifts for Alfred to clean up. Selina had been less cooperative. A little before dawn, Batman was able to corner the cat in a narrow alley. He was forced to use a tranquilizer to get her, which unfortunately wore off by the time he got back to the car.

Once inside the Batmobile, the robin and the cat chased, taunted, and tried to hurt each other within the small confines of his car. Again, Bruce growled at the memory, causing the cat in his lap to jump off. When the robin saw the cat move, it flew off again.

“Dammit! Tim, come back here! Selina, leave him alone!”

Bruce buried his face in his hands until a noise from the computer made him look up.

“Alfred, Jason's here. Please bring him down. Hurry!”

“Of course, sir.” Alfred kept his outward reserve, but once he got upstairs, he allowed himself a small smile. He was sure Bruce wouldn't want to see another animal anytime soon.
