I walked over to the horse track

here in Kentucky next to the hotel I'm staying at in Florence this 'morning. It was deserted except for five or six jockeys out taking laps during the off season. (they wear the silks even when just practicing)Some of the horses apparently didn't want to do the laps and were more for doing that happy prancing dance and ignoring their riders. Must be the briskness of the weather. I went ahead into the clubhouse and picked out a friendly looking guy who reminded me of a miniature version of Rodney Mcdowell to ask directions. My big plans for today are to drink beer and watch football and I didn't want to drive with the semi truck. Turns out he's a trainer and was very cool, he had an accent that wasn't from Kentucky for sure. I wished him luck on the upcoming season after we talked about the perils of horse racing in the wintertime. and now I'm back in my room feeling somehow the richer & a little bit more worldly for it
