12K in cash prizes, production award & script feedback
Deadline is July 31st

The Slamdance Screenwriting and Teleplay Competition is dedicated to discovering and supporting emerging writing talent. We welcome screenplays in every genre, any budget, on any topic, from anywhere in the world. Now in our seventeenth year, we have a history of finding talented, independent screenwriters and introducing them to the entertainment industry. We also have a track record of enabling writers get their projects made. Last year's feature category winner Jug Face, written by Chad Kinkle was acquired after winning and then Chad got to direct his work. The 2011 horror category winner 100 Bloody Acres was also acquired after winning and writers Cameron and Colin Cairnes recently completed directing their debut feature in Australia. A unique feature of the competition is providing constructive feedback for every entrant and more intensive coverage service for a supplementary fee. All of our readers approach scripts differently, but in general, more than commercial potential or marketability, we are looking for originality and promise in a work. As an organization, we strive to foster an independent spirit among new writers and filmmakers. Weʼve established a strong track record through our competition successes and are committed to continuing our pursuit to champion outstanding new work.

For more information about our production award, see our winner Dead In The Room written by Marjory Kaptanoglu and directed by Oscar® nominated director Adam Pertofsky. Dead In The Room has now played at over 10 festivals and won two prizes. We are looking forward to producing the 2012 winner!
