Ow! Whose stupid idea was it to put some dinky metal box on the ground where anyone can trip over it? Not that this would be a problem if I could "see" right now.

Uh, hello? Sokka? Aang, Katara? Zuko? Anybody? If you can hear me, shout "ROCKALANCHE"!

And ugh, what the heck is that noise?

The people here are rioting. Stay out of their way.

Do you want me to tell you the obvious? Get a weapon, stay away from any windows, and so forth? You asked what the noise was, and I told you.

Not the noise I'm talking about. Trust me, a brawl isn't noise, it's practically music.

Not to me. I loathe all these chaotic sounds.

If you hear ticking, you are hearing the City's clock tower. The more alone you are, the more you will hear it.

Get some earmuffs.

Why would you need a tower for some...time thingy?

Then I would not hear them coming up behind me to crack my skull with a bottle. I prefer being able to hear something precisely.

Because it is an archaic sort of building that humans find sentimental. Are you from so long ago, that you don't know what a clock tower is? I believe the City uses its gears to guide other machinery as well.

Unless you have some other sensory advantage, I suggest you ask someone to take you away from the metropolis proper until this nonsense dies down.

Then take your own advice and hide somewhere.

Lady, you are making no sense.

Look. This girl may as well be ancient.

First. I hope you can tell by now that you hold a device that allows for remote communication. I am nowhere near you. You hear me through the box you tripped over.

Second. There are riots in the urban areas of this city. I assume that this does not requires explanation. The City has crime -- this should not surprise you.

Third. You are in The City. None of the residents here have stretched their minds enough to give it a name. It is an isolated city-state that one arrives at by...magical transportation, teleporting, hyperspace transport, or whatever name it may go by on your homeworld.

You are not on your own planet any longer.
