On Saturday I got to go to Cars Land. I hadn't been to either of the Disneyland Resort parks since Cars Land opened, so I was really excited about it!
Cars Land is very well-done. There are lots of fantastic details, and it was clearly created with a great deal of care. The headline attraction is Radiator Springs Racers, which is a great ride. It combines dark-ride elements with thrill ride elements and there's some very impressive animatronic work.
California Adventure feels much bigger and more complete, and it seems more fitting for it to stand alongside Disneyland now. They've redone the entranceway, and now there's a Red Car trolley that can take you from the entrance area down through Hollywood to the Tower of Terror. And as I was riding the Red Car, and thinking about Who Framed Roger Rabbit (because obviously if I'm gonna ride the Red Car, that movie's gonna be on my mind) I realized something.
Toontown and Cars Land should switch places.
Obviously this is impractical. But they are each in the wrong park. Radiator Springs is definitely not in California, and Toontow definitely is. The Roger Rabbit stuff in Toontown would fit in well with the mid-40s LA feel that the refit of California Adventure is trying to invoke. It would be perfect! And Cars Land, though it's awesome, just feels out of place there because it's not a California location.
Okay, what I need is for someone with a time machine to go back and sort this out, because there's no way we can fix it in the present.
