Canadian Book Prices are too High!

I don't know about you, but I'm sick and frigging tired of the stupid difference between the Canadian and US prices on books, especially with the dollar being only about five cents different right now. So, I'm going to do something about it ( Read more... )

You'll get more signatures if this was unlocked.

Also, are there any importation taxes or fees?

I tried to make it unlocked. I reset my preferences yesterday though to autolock entries. Looks like if I want to unlock anything, I have to do it manually.

And no, there are no taxes or fees. They're not even allowed to charge Provincial taxes on books.

Essentially, it's just booksellers/publishers taking advantage of the fact that the US dollar used to be worth a lot more than the Canadian Dollar.
It really pissed me off today though, because instead of an 8.99/10.99 difference, the book I wanted to buy was a 7.99/10.99 difference.

That's just crap. You need to post the petition in some Canadian pubs, though. That way you can get the word spread more.

Search for "Canada" in lj interests and look through the groups. Check the info to see if it says you can't post that sort of thing. Join a few. Post that sort of thing.
