12 of 12! Take 12 pictures of your day on the 12th and post them for all to see!
August 12th is a holiday in Thailand (the Queen's birthday/Mother's Day), so I wasn't at work. The first half of my day was very boring and not worthy of photos, but I somehow did manage to get all 12 photos in the end.
Here is the link to the rest of the 12 of 12 participants
1. 1:17 pm -- a soi kitty. Aside from his missing left eye he looked very healthy. Even his tail looks normal! He was looking up very intently, and I wasn't able to ascertain what had his attention.
2. 1:47 pm -- Democracy Monument. It and the surrounding areas were being prepared for some Mother's Day festival.
3. 1:47 pm -- same place, but facing the opposite direction. You can see some of the costumes for the festival lying around. The people in yellow are either acrobats or dancers.
4. 3:02 pm -- coming home on the ferry, I just thought the sky looked a bit ominous. It started raining about five minutes after I got home.
5. 3:07 pm -- a family that lives near my building owns these rabbits. They have about six cats, at least three dogs, and four rabbits, including the three seen here. I always feel bad for the bunnies, since their cages are so small, and they seem to get left in the sun a lot, and every time I think to check their water dishes are empty.
6. 3:08 pm -- it's not immediately obvious from the photo, but this dog is quite pudgy. There's a BBQ vendor nearby where I see her hanging around a lot, and, more often than not, if someone buys a skewer from the BBQ man, they give the dog at least one chunk of meat from it. She's friendly and cute and does very well for herself. I think she has owners, too.
7. 3:08 pm -- this cat came running over when I knelt down to take a picture of the dog. I like calico cats.
8. 4:20 pm -- I bought these two books from a used bookstore on Soi Rambutri earlier in the day. I've been looking for both of them for months so I was pretty thrilled to find a shop that had copies of both.
9. 5:00 pm -- one of the geckos that lives in our apartment, hanging out on the door. My husband took this picture with his camera, which is much better than mine.
10. 8:42 pm -- Khao San Road. My husband and I decided to celebrate the first weekend we've had off together in months by going over to the big tourist district and having drinks in a tourist-y bar. It had just stopped raining when I took this.
11. 9:14 pm -- this is the drink we had: a bucket, a SE Asian backpacker classic. It's Thai whiskey, Coke, Red Bull, and soda. It costs about $6. This is about half-finished.
12. 10:36 pm -- in a taxi heading home. The Thai name of this street (Ratchadamnoen Klang) translates as "Royal Passageway" (or "Kingsway", less literally), and is decorated at all times with huge portraits of the royal family. It was done up especially prettily today for the Queen's birthday.
