Ok, so a year ago when I was trying to figure out what kind of character I wanted to create for my fursona, I was torn between a canine character and a feline one. I ended up with Roby since Bagheera is my favorite anthro and it fit parts of my personality. I'm not one that is strong into a single animal representing me or following a totem though, and one of the great things about the fandom is you can pretty much create whatever you want. With that in mind, I figured why couldn't I have both.
So, a little while ago, I commissioned
marymouse for a character design. I told her about the character and what I was looking for and she set about creating a couple of design sheets for me; one a standard design, and the other a character pose sheet in the theme I was looking for. I have to apologize to Mary as I was pretty picky with the character reference, which is not my normal approach with artists. Normally I like to give artists free reign to run with their imagination, but I had some specific things in mind. Mary was very patient with me and I appreciate her efforts as I think it came out great.
The character is Winston. He's an English Springer Spaniel by breed, but from America of course. He has a fly-fishing/hunting theme and I plan to play him as somewhat aloof and eliteist. He's somewhat of a wanna-be as he wants to be cultured and proper, like a good Brit, but can't quite shake his good-old boy roots. I want each of my characters to represent me in some way and those of you that know me well probably know where this comes from. I often like to pretend I'm a little more cultured than I really am. I myself am big into fly-fishing, and fly-fisherman in general get labeled as eliteists. I also like to eat at higher end restaurants and dress nicely; however, I'm just as likely to down some pizza & hot wings or a burger while watching a ballgame and while I want to look nice, I don't know crap about fashion.
Anyway, here he his. I do plan for him to become a suit, hopefully next year. I will have to start thinking about which maker will be a good fit for him.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks!
