Questions Meme Answers

Ok, so here are the answers to the 8 questions I received. Thank you to those of you that posted!

Q:  So how soon until we all get to get drunk playing cards again? (Furball2K)

- Hopefully in September. I won't be able to make the August softball deal. I've decided not to travel this month to give myself a bit of a break. I'm definitely in for September as Nbowa & I are going to hit up the BMW Championship that Sunday. I look forward to hanging with you guys again!

Q: Have you ever made up a story or lie for the sole purpose of getting someone off your back, and if so what was it and did you get caught doing it?

-Hmm. Probably the closest is just coming up with a mild excuse to not attend an event or so. No big stories come to mind and I don't ever recall getting caught doing it. I'm usually pretty honest about things so I don't get into any big lie situations.

Q:  When did you know you were a fur and how it come about?

- I suppose I could cheat and just refer you to my intro post from back in February ( http://roby-panther.livejournal.com/732.html). Honestly, like a lot of folks I think it started as a kid. I had a pretty strong affinity to animation, particularly ones with animal characters, and I often daydreamed about that kind of world. As a young adult, I always just figured I had an odd affinity for things "furry" and never realized there were a whole group of people who shared that interest. I was never the "techie" that some of my friends were, so I never stumbled upon the fan groups, chat groups and such that sprung up, nor did I find any friends that shared the same interest. At the same time, I've always been kind of reserved, so I never exactly went looking for it either. Wasn't until earlier this year when I decided to check into things after seeing some videos on YouTube.

Q: Why did you choose the name Roby?

-As I was trying to figure out my character species, I was torn between feline and canine. I had already decided on "Toby" for a canine name, because I've always loved it (I'm going to use it for a canine character later). However, it didn't have the right feel for a feline character, so I went with Roby. The main reason is I wanted something toony/friendly sounding.

Q: Mascot toony style or Scribble Fox/ realistic anthro style? and why

-Hopefully this isn't a cop-out, but I think both have their places. My overall preference is toony, because I think it's so versatile and I like the friendly/huggableness to them. That's why I'm going with toony style for my first suit. However, I do like a lot of the scribble style suits. I think that style allows for a lot of creativity and artistic detail. Some of them really fit their owners too (*heart* Roan). However, it's not the style for me at this point. I think they also tend to be limited to furry only type events, as I'm not sure how they would be received by kids and the general public.

Q: Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?

- No! No grey poop on my sandwich! LOL, that's what my brother and I always called it as kids.

Q: Why is Ford always curled up in your lap drawing? *snickers*

-Actually, he's generally only drawing when we go out to dinner. When he's on my lap, it's usually for paw rubs :) . Basically, Ford and I just get along well and enjoy each others company. I guess that's why I'm his "fake boyfriend". He and Nbowa are my best friends in the fandom, though I have many good ones as well.

Q: I can't quite get a good reading on my gaydar. So are you gay and have you ever had a boyfriend.

- Yes, I've gots the gay. I guess you could say bi since there are times I still feel attraction for women, but I lean more heavily toward gay. I have not had a boyfriend though, as I've only recently come to terms with this. I actually haven't really "dated" since my early 20s. I spent a fair amount of time convincing myself that I was just ok with being single. I also tend to be fairly conservative when it comes to relationships, not one to (often) go for flings or casual relationships. It takes the right comfort level for me to make that kind of step and I often don't feel attracted to someone until after I've come to know them better.

Thanks for all the questions!
