Happiness...

Nov 09, 2008 03:11

Forgive me Intramawebs, it has been a long time since my last posting.

Happiness.... is having your very own bukkit close to flipper.
Or alternatively, actually doing something good you've been planning to do for some months, but for the lack of that 2 hours and $200 which is so hard to come by when you're busy and poor. Poor as in all of time-poor, resource-poor, and common-sense poor.

I can has a brand spanking (not literally) new DVD/VCR combo machine!!! I know people reading this wil shake their heads, cluck their tongues, and say "Oh dear, Rob, whatever shall we do with you?" but I still stoutly maintain that people really overlook the little here-and-now joys of life, the little things - instead of stressing over insolvable issues, or long-term ongoing problems.

Life is painful and difficult.

Build a bridge and get over it. It wasn't easy as a kid, and hey guess what? It doesn't get any easier as time rolls on. You just collect more Life and Stuff along the way, and that lets you apply for bigger and better things.

I apologise in advance if this post rambles, or lacks coherency - it's 2 in the morning and I've been drinking and cleaning. OK, so the cleaning might not be an explaining factor, but the late hour and drinking should. At least to those of you dear readers who know me personally. Anyway, this is a tiny section of the intramawebs which I have actually bought with electronic cash monies (in some very limited capacity) from our kindly Russian overlords, and in the same way I can paint the inside walls of my unit any colour and style I find pleasing without the intervention of the Fashion Police ... wait, what was the point again?
Oh yes, this is my bit of e-space, and if you don't like it, don't come here, there's lots of other bits of the web to admire.

Now, back to the main topic - happiness.

Yes, my very kind friends clubbed together for my housewarming to provide me with a bigger TV and DVD player, and that was ... ooo - some months back.

I greatly thank them - the TV is great.
The DVD player.... well, I think it may have been great at one point, but with several buttons non-functional on the remote (like the play, select, and return-to-menu) it was ... barely functional. It could play dvds, but only if they had a 'Play All' option.

ANYWAY, now the new DVD/VCR machine has the wii hooked into it, and all the cables neatly tucked out of sight, instead of trailing out like so many entrails from a gutted swine, it's _good_

I can flip between vcr, dvd, wii and tv - WITH A FULLY ARMED AND OPERRRATIONAL BATTLE REMOTE. All that's left is to tie the TV onto the remote somehow (advice plskthxbai!!!) and then I'll be ready to upgrade the stone-age CRT for a flatscreen, or maybe projector.

It depends on the monies mainly.

I am sorry this post is so banal and pedestrian, but I just felt like sharing my joy with the world at large. At least the tiny tiny tiny section that reads this, and the subset of that who care :)

peace out, y'all
