Our school's 5th grade flag football team had our first away game today -- and our first non-loss, yay! 19-19 tie. 10yo has been moved from Safety to Rusher this week, and informs me that he got all but one of the sacks today. I did see him get the other team's flags several times; I saw other kids do so a bunch too, but he says those others weren't "sacks". Something about "quarterback" and "behind the line". I'm glad he seems to understand what's going on :)
Last week, we lost on the very last play, the other team scored a touchdown from something like a yard away, changing the score from a 26-all tie to us losing. This game I was setting up the snack at the end, so was blissfully unaware that we were in the same situation on the last down, Too Close to the Bad Endzone. But 10yo says that he and the other rusher were on top of the other team's quarterback so fast that he (or she, I wasn't looking) threw wild. yay!!!
Meanwhile, 7yo was having a lovely time walking somebody's tiny dog around and playing on the playground with other little-sibs.
