Another London post

May 30, 2003 13:03

Well hello all my livejournal followers. Postcards will be going out soon to all of those that e-mailed me asking for one. I'm going to be industrious and do them all this weekend. Besides that things are still the same here, but Billy showed back up. I have to give it to him, he was industrious in his abscence. He is working at a pub in Knightsbridge (a really posh part of London) called "Paxton's Head". It's a really nice place. I went and had a few pints there the other night. More importantly is that Billy seems to like the job a lot. So that's good. I'm still looking for a job. I have a few good leads, so hopefully something good will come out of that. Keep you fingers crossed.

We watch a lot of MTV here at the hostel (and a whole hell of a lot of The Simpsons, so that's cool). The funny thing here is that the MTV isn't awful. The regular MTV isn't good (although TRL does not exist over here, and that's a plus. I hae also not seen any Road Rules or Real World. Lots of Punked and Cribs, though) but the hostel has MTV2 and all sorts of other crazy music channels. They are definetley good. Like I just saw "Novacaine for the Soul" on not too long ago. Another song that they play a lot here is this song called "Gay Bar" by the group Electric 6. Is that played in the states? The video for it is Abe Lincoln in really gay clothing like girating and rubbing phallic symbols. I just wondered if that song and/or video get any airtime back home. It's pretty fucking funny, I mean...I don't think it's offensive or aything. I don't know. Seeing Honest Abe say "I've got something to put in you" while getting oiled down by other Abe Lincolns is just kinda poetic. But yeah, look the video up if you have not seen it.

I also finally saw The Matris: Reloaded. I have to say that I like it. Most of my fears for the movie were unfounded...and that's good. It was just a really good movie. Although, it did seem like the action parts of it were a bit forced...but that's OK...they were so damn pretty. Unfortunately I missed the rest of the Animatrix when they aired it on TV here. So, are you guys back home going to buy the DVD? I will gladly chip in for an apartment copy. The one Animatrix segment I did see, The Final Flight of the Osiris, really fleshed out the story. It just fit in like a puzzle piece it was incredible. Oh, and is the game good? I really miss my videogaming stuff. As sad as it sounds, I still dream in Warcraft. We are going to have to have a hell of a lot of gaming when I get home.

Let's see...what else. The new Eels CD comes out here soon. I'm gathering some fellow hostel-mates to go and see them in July. They are playing here in London on, I think, the 3rd. So yeah. I can't wait. I can't think of any other shows that are going on that I am really anticipating besides the Eels. I went and saw Les Miserables...but that's a musical and not a concert. Hmm...what else have I been doing...Oh, I started reading _Dune_. So far I really like it. After that I am going to read _Neverwhere_ by Neil Gaiman (he wrote _American Gods_ which was really good and I highly recomend it), and then the new Harry Potter book. I also plan to read _Alice in Wonderland_, and _Through the Looking Glass_. I decided to make this the "Robert reads all the books he's been meaning to read" summer. If you any book suggestions feel free to send them my way. How did everybody's grades turn out? Colin, are you still in school?

But yeah, you guys need to post on the livejournal some. I check the livejournals and my e-mail all the time. I would love to hear what all is going on back home. Oh, and I'm very glad to hear that Emily's wedding went well. If any of you guys see her, tell her I said congrats to her and Christoff.

So this post is adequatley long. Take care fellow livejournalers.
