BotCon Report
Well, since I'm off work today, I may as well write this!
BotCon was pretty awesome, other than me getting sick. I'm just going to ramble highlights, because really, no one reads the pages-long posts.
-Brought Jessica and my DAD along. Dad had a good time! He would go again if it were reasonably close like this time.
-Jessica enjoyed herself enough, thanks to the company of our usual group - Rich, Other Jessica, and Ryan. Also, Rose and Frank some of the time.
-I actually won stuff! Sunday I got a door prize, and thanks to all the people who hunted me down and called me to let me know! It's much appreciated! I got a FP Landquake!
-Casino night was surprisingly fun and interesting! I figured we'd just go play bingo like last year, but we(Dad, Rich, and I)had all these casino bucks, plus Walky and Graham had given me theirs, so we decided to go to the blackjack table. I did surprisingly well considering our first-night-trainee of a dealer wouldn't up the bet limit until the bitter end. I made about 30,000 by playing, but Dad bought one of those charity balloons and made us another 100,000 in chips. In the end, Dad and I combined chips and had 357,000, which turned out to be enough to score a BotCon '06 Optimus Primal. I'm glad I didn't hold out for the '07 stuff or the '06 Megatron. Waaaay more than we had. In fact, we were really lucky to get it. Primal's awesome and I'm keeping him!
-Managed to balance everything fairly well this year, despite missing the karaoke night because the casino auction went waaaaaaaaay later than expected. As in 1:00am later. Sorry about that, guys. We had the full intention of going.
-Jess and Other Jess went to bingo. They didn't win anything this year, but they did get to witness some retarded guy attack a little girl (who we knew) with a bingo marker and get kicked out of the convention. Also, two idiot women fighting, calling each other "immature" and "bitch" in front of kids, and storming out. Sounds about right.
-We also saw some freak chick in a "Barricade costume" which was really basically just black panties and some random pieces stuck in various places. Not only was her costume shitty, but she got kicked our for being indecent.
-It was great to see everyone I saw and talked to! Gabe, Ant, sorry again I missed karaoke. Everyone else, it was great seeing/meeting you! If you missed me, I was probably in the dealer room.
Siph, thanks a TON for all the drones. Those will raise a lot in next year's charity auction! (Can I keep one? Please? Just one!)
-Rich, Frank, and I had WADCON at 2:00am after the casino auction. After half an hour or so, this amounted to Rich and I each with 25 pieces of Spanish Transformers movie gum (bought for the collectable foil inserts I guess)in our mouths. It tastes like blue raspberry and hairspray. Frank made a big WADCON 2008 board and we stuck our wads to it. We have pictures somewhere. It was awesome. My jaw still hurts a bit.
-My dad took about a day to loosen up a bit and find his place, at which time he proceeded to talk Transformers stuff, make the occasional dirty joke, and steal convention signs. I never knew, I swear. Now it's confirmed: I got it from him. Everyone I talked to about it insisted he come with us next time. He really is awesome.
-The toys this year are sweet. I don't care what anyone else says about them; I really think they're great. Way more impressive in person, and great mold choices. 4 new heads! Wow!
-I saved up months of tips from my Monday pizza delivery second job, so we had a quality amount of spending money. I managed to get a lot of stuff on my list, so here's my haul:
Targetmaster Hot Rod reissue $50
Targetmaster Scourge $125 (high, but I really wanted one, and it was the only one there!)
MyClone Megatron, Sideswipe, Jazz ~$6 each
Choro-Q Megatron $15
Kiss Play Cassettes $40

Spike and Sparkplug "Diaclone" figures $30 (high as far as I'm concerned, but Jess wanted the TFSource bag they were giving out with purchases)
G1 parts - Carnivac gun (FINALLY!), Skystalker base underside, Thrust landing gear, don't remember price
All of the Micromaster Combiner pieces who are white. Mine were all yellowed, but I found them for $2 a piece. Can't beat that! Also, I ALMOST had an original Big Daddy for Walky for the same price, but some other dude snatched him up as I was reaching for him. Grrr. Sorry dude.
Japanese Classics Mini-con set with the purple dinosaur, etc $45 for all 9.

That was about it! By the time we got home Sunday night, I was absolutely exhausted and sick. I'm off work today because of it. Sinus infection, probably. Anyway, respond or something!
